October Sports News!

Tuesday 3rd October

Fair Oak entered four teams into a boys Year 5 and 6 football tournament held at Wyvern today amongst schools from the local area. The competition was a league format where each team played every other team with points being added up to decide where each side would finish. After all of the fixtures had been played, Fair Oak 4 finished in seventh place with Fair Oak 3 one point and one place ahead of them in sixth place. Fair Oak 2 ended the tournament in second place while Fair Oak 1 finished in first place with an impressive eighteen points! Well done to all of our boys who played brilliantly throughout the event.

Friday 6th October

Our girls football team played their County Finals tournament today at Wide Lane. The competition involved the nine best team in the county so the standard of football was extremely high. Fair Oak began with a nil nil draw with Herne and followed that up with a two one win against Solent. Three more nil nil scorelines followed against Newchurch, Velmead and Castle before our girls lost one nil to Oakwood. A two nil win against Grange put our girls right back into the mix but unfortunately Fair Oak lost the final game of the tournament one nil to St Mary’s. This meant that our girls had amassed ten points and finished in a very respectable fourth place. What a superb effort by all of the girls involved!

Monday 9th October

Fair Oak took an upper school tag rugby team to Oakley to participate in tag rugby training matches to help our side prepare for the season ahead. The session was really useful to our players who are developing nicely and should head into their upcoming competitions with confidence.

Tuesday 10th October

Our upper school cross country runners were entered into the South Eastleigh and Winchester cross country race held today at Hamble College. The standard of competition was extremely high and all of our athletes performed brilliantly. Individually our runners won both the Year 5 boys race as well as the Year 6 girls race. Our Year 6 boys team finished in third place overall and our Year 6 girls team finished in second place overall! Well done to all of our athletes. What a lot of cross country talent we have in our school!

Friday 13th October

Fair Oak again visited Oakley Junior School to participate in tag rugby training matches but this time the fixtures were for our lower school players. The session was really useful to our side who are beginning to build up their game play experience in preparation for future fixtures!

Tuesday 17th October

It was the turn of our lower school cross country runners to take part in the South Eastleigh and Winchester cross country race held today at Hamble College. Just as for the upper school, the standard of competition was extremely high and all of our athletes performed brilliantly. Our year 4 girls team finished in place overall while our year 4 boys team finished in place! Well done to all of our participating athletes.
