On Tuesday 3^rd March, two of our top athletes were invited to represent the South Eastleigh and Winchester District team in the Hampshire Cross County Championships at Down Grange in Basingstoke. The races were extremely competitive but our runners represented the district incredibly well. We are so proud of them!

Fair Oak also entered five teams into a girls tag rugby tournament held on the Fair Oak Junior School field on the 3^rd March. Great credit must go to all the players who participated. They were all superb in both their attitude and rugby skills! The competition took a league format where every team played every other team. The side with the most points at the end of the tournament would be crowned champions. After all the fixtures had been played, the final league table stood as follows:

Tuesday 10^th March

Tuesday 10^th March saw two teams attend the South Eastleigh and Winchester District netball tournament. Both of our teams played some brilliant netball. The tournament was a very good level, and we really stepped up to the occasion with sharp passing and movement, teamwork and determination. 

Fair Oak A were undefeated with six wins and one draw and finished as tournament winners! Fair Oak B finished with two wins, three draws and two losses. We are exceptionally proud of everyone who represented our school so brilliantly. 

Congratulations to Fair Oak A who qualified for the county finals on 20th April at Embley School! 

Tuesday 17^th March

Fair Oak entered five teams into a mixed tag rugby tournament again held on the Fair Oak Junior School field on Tuesday 17^th March. Just like the girls event earlier in the month, the competition took a league format where every team played every other team. The side with the most points at the end of the tournament would be crowned champions and would take The Mike Warrior Cup! After all the fixtures had been played, the final league table stood as follows:

Tuesday 24^th March

Today a cross-country relay race took place organised by Fair Oak Junior School on the Lapstone playing fields. Eight schools took part and just short of three hundred children participated! There were four races in total: lower school boys, lower school girls, upper school boys and upper school girls.

For the first race, the lower school girls took their positions on the start line while their other team runners waited in the ‘holding area.’ It was very exciting to watch! Overall, 3^rd place went to Weeke A, 2nd place went to Springhill and 1^st place went to Fair Oak A!

Next the lower school boys took their starting positions. When Mr Stredwick blew his whistle, the race began! Again, the race was but only one school could win! The results were as follows: in 3^rd place was Fair Oak A, in 2^nd place was Weeke B and in 1^st place was Otterbourne A!

The third race was for the upper school girls. Nerves were jangling at the start line. The results were as follows: in 3^rd place was Otterbourne A, 2^nd place went to Weeke A but in a comfortable 1^st place was Fair Oak A!

Finally, the upper school boys race took place. This was the biggest race in terms of participants and everyone wanted to watch. The final results were Otterbourne A in 3^rd place, 2^nd place went to Fair Oak A but in first place was Springhill!

Hopefully, the relay will be as good next year and lots of schools will participate. What a fantastic event!

Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a lively Scottish social dance full of energy, teamwork and laughter. No experience is needed — just plenty of enthusiasm!

First session: Monday 13th April
Final session: Monday 22nd June

We anticipate this being a very popular club. If it is oversubscribed, places will be allocated by drawing names from a hat.

⭐ Please note: Commitment is very important. Children will be expected to attend the large majority of sessions as we prepare for a Ceilidh festival performance on Friday 26th June — an event we are very much looking forward to!

Ceilidh Club Summer Term 2026 – Fill in form

Wednesday 11^th February saw the girl’s football team play against Westgate for a place in the quarter-finals of the Hampshire Plate competition. The girls played the wet conditions very well in the first half and created numerous chances but were unable to take them. At half-time, the game stood at 0-0. The second half was a more even contest and despite continuing to have scoring opportunities, it was Westgate who proved more clinical, scoring three goals without reply. Despite the 0–3 loss, our girls should be proud of their performance and in particular, the way they supported and encouraged each other throughout.

On Tuesday 24^th February, a group of Year 3 children represented our school at a cricket festival held at Wildern School. Our students rotated around different stations to take part in exciting cricket skill challenges. A huge well done to our participants who represented Fair Oak brilliantly.

House Hockey and Orienteering Results 2025/26

During the final week of February, pupils participated in house hockey and orienteering matches. Below are the year group results:

2^nd    St George (197 points)

3^rd    St Patrick (192 points)

4^th    St David (191 points)

The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s Big Walk And Wheel will run for 10 days from 16 March to 27 March 2026 and is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK. On each day, schools compete to see who can get as many of their pupils, staff and parents cycling, walking or scooting to school. Journeys will be recorded and schools will select their best five days. This information will determine our final overall position against all other participating schools.

If your child decides to ride in to school during the Big Walk And Wheel, they will need to park their bikes at the bike sheds before heading to their classroom.

In preparation for the big event, Bike It John from the Walk and Wheel Cycle Trust will be in school on the morning of Wednesday 11^th March to carry out a Bike Doctor session. John and his team will perform a free basic bike check on all bikes ridden on that day. 

Please remember that all pupils need a cycling permit to cycle to school. Permit application letters can be collected from Mr Stredwick or you can download this below.

Over the coming weeks, staff will introduce the competition in assemblies and support children in school, and we kindly ask parents and carers to read the letter below and support their child at home by helping them choose an appropriate text and practise reading aloud with confidence and expression.

On Tuesday 13^th January, selected children from Year 5 and 6 attended an indoor Sportshall athletics event at Swanmore College. The children were challenged to perform as best as they could at throwing, jumping and running. The children loved the atmosphere and competing against 7 other schools in what was definitely a fun and exhilarating event. Some children took part in either speed bounce, triple jump or standing long jump. After that, they took part in either the target throw, chest push or foam javelin. Finally, everyone took part in two different relays, where they won each one they competed in. The children represent the school amazingly well. 

Tuesday 20^th January

On Tuesday 20^th January it was the turn of our Year 3 and 4 athletics teams to take on schools from the local area in a competition which mirrored that of the Year 5 and 6 event that had taken place in the previous week. After all the throwing, jumping and running had taken place, the final results were as follows:

Tuesday 27^th January

Fair Oak entered two teams into the South Eastleigh and Winchester hockey tournament on Tuesday 27^th January. The winners, along with the runners-up in the event would qualify for the County Finals Tournament later on in the school year. Our teams played superbly throughout, showing great stick work, control and invasion game awareness to finish in second and third overall. What an amazing achievement! Well done to all of our fantastic athletes who worked hard and showed great teamwork all afternoon! The final standings are given below:

The children have been working really hard on learning a large number of songs since September and have really impressed us with their enthusiasm and excellent singing. We are so proud of how well the children represented the school on the day - their behaviour was fantastic and they were a joy to spend the day with.

After an afternoon of rehearsing, we performed to an audience of parents and carers and the atmosphere in the O2 was amazing! As well as performing ourselves, we were also treated to watching some amazing guest singers and dancers, including the current Elphaba in the West End!

Although there were many tired faces the morning after (as we arrived back to school at 12.40am!), I hope that the children will have created many memories that they will remember for a long, long time! 

Today Fair Oak entered two teams into a South Eastleigh and Winchester table tennis event. Teams were split into two pools. Fair Oak B were placed in a group with Berrywood, Wellstead and Wickham. Fair Oak A were with Freegrounds, Saint James and Swanmore. Both of our teams performed superbly with all of our players showing great determination and teamwork. After all matches had been played, both of our teams finished in second place in their group which meant that they would play off against each other to decide who would finish in third place overall. In a very close encounter, it was Fair Oak A who just shaded it to finish in third place, meaning that Fair Oak B finished in fourth place overall. Well done to all of our fabulous table tennis players!

Tuesday 16^th December

Fair Oak entered two teams into the South Eastleigh and Winchester basketball finals today. The tournament today was of a very high standard as all cluster winners were participating! Fair Oak played superbly throughout, both in terms of skill and sportsmanship, and the team should be proud of the way they conducted themselves. The full results are given below:

The main change FROM THE 6TH JANUARY is that parents and guardians will need to book their child’s meal choice at home using the Arbor App.

Please ensure there is enough credit on your child’s account, as meals can only be booked when the balance covers the full cost. The new meal price will be £2.75.

If a school meal is not ordered, your child will need to bring a packed lunch from home. Families entitled to Free School Meals must still order their child’s meal through Arbor.

All outstanding balances must be cleared before the new system begins.
