Researchers at the University of Birmingham are carrying out the ELSA study which aims to screen children to understand their risk of developing type 1 diabetes using a simple finger-prick blood test, which can be done either at home or at school. We are pleased to be offering this screening at school on Thursday 26th February 2026, with an in-school session taking place during the morning, led by Research Nurses from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Your child will only take part if you choose to opt in, and further information about the study, including how to take part, can be found below.
