Read Aloud Competition

After half-term, we are delighted to be launching the annual Fair Oak Junior School Read Aloud Competition, now in its fourth year, which celebrates children’s reading, confidence and oracy skills through an enjoyable whole-school challenge. Pupils will select a short passage from a published fiction book and take part in a series of class, year-group and school finals, with all children encouraged to participate at a level that feels right for them.
Over the coming weeks, staff will introduce the competition in assemblies and support children in school, and we kindly ask parents and carers to read the letter below and support their child at home by helping them choose an appropriate text and practise reading aloud with confidence and expression.
