February 2026 Sports News

On Tuesday 10th February, a group of Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a netball tournament at Wyvern School. We entered two teams and played against Colden Common and Upham. Despite the wet conditions, each player worked hard to move the ball down the court, displaying brilliant determination and teamwork. Fair Oak 1 won all their matches and so will go onto represent our school in the area finals, to be held at Wildern School after half-term. Well done to everyone involved. The final standings are given below:

Wednesday 11th February saw the girl’s football team play against Westgate for a place in the quarter-finals of the Hampshire Plate competition. The girls played the wet conditions very well in the first half and created numerous chances but were unable to take them. At half-time, the game stood at 0-0. The second half was a more even contest and despite continuing to have scoring opportunities, it was Westgate who proved more clinical, scoring three goals without reply. Despite the 0–3 loss, our girls should be proud of their performance and in particular, the way they supported and encouraged each other throughout.
On Tuesday 24th February, a group of Year 3 children represented our school at a cricket festival held at Wildern School. Our students rotated around different stations to take part in exciting cricket skill challenges. A huge well done to our participants who represented Fair Oak brilliantly.
