Year 5

We are delighted to welcome you and your children to Year 5.

Welcome to our Year 5 page! The children are confident, engaged learners who consistently show commitment, respect and resilience in all aspects of school life. We are proud of the maturity and enthusiasm they bring to their learning and look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow throughout Year 5.

Uniform
We kindly remind all families of the importance of children attending school in the correct school uniform each day. Wearing the full, correct uniform helps pupils feel a sense of pride and belonging as well as supports our high standards across the school. The current expectations around school uniform are displayed on our website under school uniform.

Homework

Year 5 will have their homework given out on a Friday to be handed in and completed by the next Friday.

There will be 10 spellings (see below) to be tested on the following Friday, 20 minutes to be completed on Times Table Rockstars and 5 sessions of reading (of at least 5 minutes each) which will be recorded in the pupil reading record which will be checked by the teacher each Friday.

Spellings

Please find below the spellings which will be tested on this week.  Students will be aware what group of spellings they are working on.

Stubbington Residential February 2026

Our Year 5 residential trip to Stubbington in February offers children an exciting opportunity to learn, grow, and build confidence outside the classroom.

This section will provide parents and pupils with all the key information they need—from itinerary details and accommodation arrangements to activities, packing lists, and safety guidance. We hope it helps you feel prepared and enthusiastic for an unforgettable experience at Stubbington!

The original letter with information about costs etc can be found here.

MEDICAL AND CONSENT LETTER
If your child is taking part in the Stubbington residential trip, they would have been sent home with a form to be completed on Monday 12th January. Please can this be completed and returned to school no later than Friday 16th January.  If you have not received this form you can find these below.

All medication must be handed in by a parent or carer on the morning of the trip, along with a completed medication form, which can be found here. Forms will also be available on the day; however, completing the form in advance is encouraged to allow for a quicker drop-off on the day!
