Year 6

We are delighted to welcome you and your children to Year 6.

Welcome to our Year 6 page! As the children work through their final year with us, they continue to demonstrate maturity, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility. We are proud of the positive role models they are becoming and look forward to supporting them as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.

Uniform
We kindly remind all families of the importance of children attending school in the correct school uniform each day. Wearing the full, correct uniform helps pupils feel a sense of pride and belonging as well as supports our high standards across the school. The current expectations around school uniform are displayed on our website under school uniform.

Homework

All homework is set on a weekly basis and is due the following week. This gives pupils the chance to ask for help if needed as well as time to complete it.

FRIDAY

Arithmetic homework will be set on a Friday and handed to the children. The due date for this is the following Friday.  This week's arithmetic homework can be found here.

Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) will continue, with the expectation that children complete 25 minutes per week. This expectation may change as the year goes on for those who consistently score 20/20 in their Soundchecks in school.

Reading continues to be an important focus and children are expected to read at least five times per week, recording this in their reading records.

Children will have the opportunity to visit the school library weekly on a Wednesday as well as being issued a ‘Must Read’ shortly. For those reading banded books, these should now have been allocated.

SATS PARENTS INFORMATION EVENING
It was lovely to see so many parents at our information evening on the 12th January. For those that were not able to attend, you can view the presentation here.

Extra Revision Resources

As we approach SATs week, some parents have asked for additional revision materials that can be used at home. Please therefore find access to a variety of optional resources to support revision here. This also suggests some additional sites and pages that some may find useful.
This additional work is not compulsory; it is simply an opportunity for children to complete some extra practice if they wish.

Trips, Treats and Letters

Over the course of the year, we will send out information regarding various trips or treats we are organising.  Some of these letters were sent out before the summer to give as much notice as possible:

PGL
This trip is now available for payment on Arbor.  More information about this trip can be found here.
