Year 6
We are delighted to welcome you and your children to Year 6.
We are excited to start a new year with this wonderful new cohort of children: they have made a fantastic start already! Classes have settled really well and the children have already demonstrated how hardworking, respectful and resilient they can be – a brilliant start to their final year of primary school.
Uniform
We kindly remind all families of the importance of children attending school in the correct school uniform each day. Wearing the full, correct uniform helps pupils feel a sense of pride and belonging as well as supports our high standards across the school. The current expectations around school uniform are displayed on our website under school uniform.
Homework
All homework is set on a weekly basis and is due the following week. This gives pupils the chance to ask for help if needed as well as time to complete it.
MONDAY
SPAG.com
Children have been given their log-on details and have written these in their reading records. Class teachers have also shown children how to log on and what this will look like.

FRIDAY
Arithmetic homework will be set on a Friday and handed to the children. The due date for this is the following Friday.
Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) will continue, with the expectation that children complete 25 minutes per week. This expectation may change as the year goes on for those who consistently score 20/20 in their Soundchecks in school.
Reading continues to be an important focus and children are expected to read at least five times per week, recording this in their reading records.
Children will have the opportunity to visit the school library weekly on a Wednesday as well as being issued a ‘Must Read’ shortly. For those reading banded books, these should now have been allocated.
Trips, Treats and Letters
Over the course of the year, we will send out information regarding various trips or treats we are organising. Some of these letters were sent out before the summer to give as much notice as possible:
· DT Cooking – find out more about our biscuit making during the week commencing 20th October here.
· PGL – this trip is now available for payment on Arbor. More information about this trip can be found here.
· Mayflower - Further details can be found for our upcoming trip to the theatre here.
· Year 6 Leavers Hoodies - We are beginning the process of organising the ‘Class of 26’ hoodies for our year 6 pupils. Find out more here.
