About Us

The Parent Staff Association (PSA) is an open community of parent/carer volunteers working alongside the school and staff to create long lasting memories for our children while raising funds for the school to help ensure the best educational experience for all its pupils.

Parents and carers have a big impact on how well their children progress at school and lending any time to help our PSA is just one of the many ways you can make a difference. The funds raised by the PSA help school initiatives, specific projects and assist learning both inside the classroom and outside within the school grounds.

Throughout the year, we organise many events including Festive Market, discos, movie nights, quiz nights, personalised Christmas items including card production, special person gift shopping around Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas, Easter eggs, Year 6’s leaver’s celebration ‘Fairstock Festival’, ice pops during the summer, ice cream van visits and more.

Being a volunteer doesn’t mean you need to turn up to everything. We have volunteers who work full time, part time, stay at home parents, everyone just helps when they are able and are respectful of each other’s commitments but every extra pair of hands helps us.

If you think you’re able to spare some extra time and would love to be a part of creating memories, please get in touch by emailing hello@fairoakjuniorpsa.co.uk or sending us a message through our Facebook page @FOJSPSA.

Here is an insight into some of the fundraising activities we provide each year…

School discos

Each year, we ensure every year group has a disco at school with the chance to socialise with friends outside the school environment. They start at 6pm and finish at 7.15pm and the cost includes a drink and an item such as sweets or glow sticks. Medals are given out for the best dance moves!

Personalised Christmas Items

During the first half term each year, the children create their own Christmas card design which gives parents the choice of ordering a number of personalised items featuring the design including Christmas cards, wrapping paper, tea towels, mugs, shopping bags and more.

Annual Christmas tree decoration

As a gift from the PSA, each Christmas the children are given a wooden hanging tree decoration with the year on it so they are able to collect them each year during their time with us.

Festive Market

Our Festive Market is a wonderfully Christmassy Friday evening in December open to our parents and children and any other family and friends. We have a selection of small local businesses with stalls selling their goods, which make great Christmas presents. The evening offers delicious hot food, candyfloss, mulled wine, hot chocolate, cakes. We also enjoy the school choir with some carol singing, which of course you are welcome to join in with. Every year, we have a Christmas raffle with some amazing prizes with the winner being drawn during the evening itself.

Movie Nights

Like the discos, every year gets a movie night where the children are welcome to come to school in their pyjamas with a teddy and/or cushion/bean bag to enjoy a movie with their friends. The cost of the movie night includes popcorn and sweets to enjoy with the film.

Easter Eggs

Each year, the PSA’s main sponsor Stanfords Estate Agents funds an Easter egg for each child at the school. These are sent home with the children at the end of the spring term with all allergies catered for.

Year 6 Fairstock Festival

To ensure a memorable send off to secondary school for our Year 6 leavers, at the end of the summer term, the children are provided with a fun day within the school day. This includes a wide range of inflatables, photo booth with prints to keep, ice cream van, gamer van, slushies all funded and provided by our wonderful sponsors and PSA.

Ice Cream Van and Ice Pops

During the warmer summer months we ensure the children have the chance to purchase cooling treat. The PSA has organised for an ice cream van to visit after school, as well as giving the children the opportunity to purchase ice pops while in school for 50p each.
