Tuesday 9th January
Today our basketball team played a qualifying tournament at Wildern for the County Finals which will be held later in the year. Only one team from the event would qualify. Teams were split into two groups with each team playing every other team in their pool. The top teams would make it through to the semi final. Fair Oak began with a dominant four nil win over Netley Abbey and followed that up with a three one win over Stoke Park. A nil nil draw followed against St James before a final group game against Berrywood which unfortunately ended in defeat by two baskets to one. These results meant that Fair Oak finished with seven points and a third place finish in the group. Well done to all of the team on some pleasing performances!

Our girls football team played their Hampshire Cup quarter final tie away to St John The Baptist School in Andover today. Both teams battled hard in tough conditions on a difficult pitch. The home side took the lead against the run of play mid-way through the first half with a rather scrappy goal from a corner. Despite constant Fair Oak pressure, St John The Baptist held on to claim a place in the semi-finals. Well done to our girls who have performed really well in this competition this year!

Fair Oak took a development team to play in a basketball tournament held today at Wildern school. The majority of the team had not played a competitive basketball fixture before but they performed really well despite losing their three matches. The first fixture was a one nil defeat to St James and that was followed up by another narrow loss, one nil again against Berrywood. Our third fixture ended in a two nil loss to Wellstead. Well done to our team who showed a lot of promise for the future.

The year five tag rugby squad today played some development fixtures at home to Oakley. The standard of play was excellent from both sides. The session was really useful to our players who are beginning to build up their match play experience. Well done to all the athletes involved!
Fair Oak hosted a year three and four boys football friendly match today against Springhill. In a fairly even first half, it was Fair Oak who carved out the better chances but unfortunately the home side could only take one of them! Springhill equalised with a well taken goal to leave the half time score at one all. In the second half Fair Oak started to take more of a control of the game and scored a further two times without reply leaving the final score at three one to Fair Oak!
Tuesday 23rd January
Fair Oak entered two teams into a hockey County Finals qualifying tournament today held at Hamble College between local schools. Fair Oak B began their pool matches with a five nil defeat to Netley but followed that up with a one nil victory over Durley. Unfortunately, further defeats to Freegrounds, Upham and Botley meant that they finished in fifth place in their pool and so missed out on qualification for the semi-finals. Fair Oak A began their campaign with a one nil win over Shamblehurst and then a two one win against Stoke Park. Berrywood were the next opponents who unfortunately got the better of our side, winning by two goals to nil. In the final group match, Hamble held on for a nil nil draw despite constant Fair Oak pressure. These results put Fair Oak in third place in the group and they also just missed out on a semi-final spot. Well done to both of our teams for some impressive performances throughout the competition.
