Our boys played their Hampshire Cup Final today against Balksbury of Andover. Fair Oak had never won this competition before despite making it to numerous finals but that unwanted record was put right by our all-conquering side! Our boys started well and began to dominate the encounter, piling on the pressure with their neat, incisive passing game. However, it took a spectacular long range goal to breach the Balkbsury defence. Fair Oak then hit the post before the referee blew up for half time, a welcome relief for Balksbury. Fair Oak hit the woodwork two more times in the second half before finally scoring the second goal that their pressure deserved. Unfortunately, the shine was slightly taken off the scoreline when Balksbury scored a scrappy goal from a corner but our boys saw the game out to ensure that the name of Fair Oak Junior School would be added to list of cup winners. Well done to our magnificent team on yet another brilliant result!

Fair Oak entered two teams into a boys football tournament at Berrywood today between local schools. Our teams were placed into different pools. The top teams from each pool would progress through to the semi-final. Fair Oak A won all three of their games against Wickham, Netley Abbey and Botley which meant that they went through to the semis. Fair Oak B drew two games against Berrywood and Swanmore and beat Hamble. These results meant that they just progressed from their group to the semis as well! Our A team played Berrwood in their semi-final and after a goal less match, Fair Oak won the penalty shoot-out and were through to the final. Unfortunately, our B team lost their semi in a close game to Botley. The final turned out to be a very tight affair with neither team managing to score which meant that the final went to penalties. Botley held their nerve and managed to win the shoot-out. Well done to all of our boys who all played brilliantly!

Our netball team took part in a qualifying tournament today for the Hampshire Games in June. They had already had to win a competition earlier in the year to make it this far as had all of the other competing teams. The standard of play was therefore very high indeed. The teams were spilt into pools with the top two from each group making it through to the semi-final. Fair Oak began with a seven nil win against Hamble and followed that up with another victory, this time by a goal to nil against Swanmore. Their final group game was a nil nil draw with Berrywood which meant that Fair Oak finished top of the group and would meet Durley in the semis. Unfortunately our team just could not get their best netball going in this encounter and ended up losing a close match three two. Well done to all of our fantastic team who performed to a really high standard today.
Friday 28th April
Our boys year three and four football team played an away friendly against Kings Worthy today. The match finished in an entertaining two all draw. Kings Worthy had taken a first half lead with a break-away goal despite continuous Fair Oak pressure, but our boys deservedly equalised just before half time. In the second period, Fair Oak conceded a penalty which the hosts converted which was again, very much against the run of play. Fair Oak then equalised once more and nearly took the win but saw a late shot rebound off the post to safety. Well done to our team who really played well.
