December Sports News

Tuesday 4th December

Fair Oak entered five teams into a boys year 3 and 4 football tournament held at Wyvern today amongst schools from the local area. The competition was a league format where each team played every other team with points being added up to decide where each side would finish. After all of the fixtures had been played, Fair Oak 5 finished in seventh place, with Fair Oak 2 two points ahead of them in sixth. Fair Oak 4 ended the tournament in fourth place with Fair Oak 3 in third. First place went to overall tournament winners, Fair Oak 1 who amassed an impressive maximum points hall of twenty one from their seven matches. Well done to all of our boys who played brilliantly throughout the event.

Tuesday 11th December

Hamble College was again the venue for an indoor athletics event, this time between year three and four pupils from local schools. Just as in the upper school competition last month, athletes scored points depending on how well they did in their track and field events and these points were collated to give an overall team total. The boys and girls points were then added together to give a school total. When our competitors had finished their events and the calculating was completed, Fair Oak ended up in second place! The final standings are given below. Well done to all of our participating pupils.

1. Berrywood 95

2. Fair Oak 92

3. Freegrounds 89

4. Botley 80

5. Wellstead 73

6. Durley 64

7. Netley 53

8. Hamble 48

9. Upham 34

Friday 14th December

Fair Oak took a year 4/5 development side to Oakley Junior School to participate in tag rugby training matches. The session was really useful to the participating players who are beginning to build up their game play experience in preparation for future fixtures!

Monday 17th December

The boys football team played their Hampshire Cup quarter-final today at home to Berrywood. Fair Oak took an early lead and increased this mid-way through the first half only for Berrywood to score just before half time to leave the score at two one to Fair Oak. Berrywood then equalised before Fair Oak again took the lead. In a high scoring affair, Berrywood quickly equalised before Fair Oak took a grip on the match, adding a further two goals. This left the final result a win for Fair Oak by five goals to three. Well done to the team who now progress through to the semi-finals.

Tuesday 18th December

Fair Oak entered six teams into a lower school girls football tournament at Wyvern today. The tournament took on a league structure where every team played every other team with the side collecting the most points at the end being crowned overall winners. All of our teams played superbly, particularly considering that for some of the girls, this was the first time they had represented the school. After all of the matches had been completed, Fair Oak 4 and 5 finished in joint fifth place with Fair Oak 6 two points ahead of them in fourth. Third place went to Fair Oak 3. Runners up spot went to Fair Oak 2 with the overall winners, Fair Oak 1 with an impressive thirteen points. What a fantastic result for the school. Well done girls!
