December Sports News - Fair Oak Qualify For Another Regional Finals Event!

Tuesday 3rd December

Fair Oak entered six teams into a lower school boys football tournament at Wyvern today. The tournament took on a league structure where every team played every other team with the side collecting the most points at the end being crowned overall winners. All of our teams played superbly, particularly considering that for many of the boys, this was the first time they had represented the school. After all of the matches had been completed, the final table was as follows:

What a fantastic result for the school. Well done boys!

Wednesday 4th December

Fair Oak entered the boys football Under 11s Schools Cup hosted by Eastleigh Football Club today. The winning team from the event would go on to represent Eastleigh at the Southern England Finals, the winners of which will then play on a North vs South Final at Wembley Stadium before the National League play off final in May. After all of the group fixtures had been played, Fair Oak finished as winners of their pool with a record of five wins and one loss which meant that they qualified for the final where they would play Springhill. This match was a predictably tense affair. Fair Oak took the lead only for Springhill to peg them back. At the full time whistle, the score still stood at one a piece which meant that the game went to extra time. Fair Oak managed to score a well worked goal in this added period without reply which means that our boys have now qualified for the Southern England Finals! What an amazing achievement.

Friday 6th December

Fair Oak took a year 5/6 development side to Oakley Junior School to participate in tag rugby training matches. For many of our athletes, this was the first time they had represented the school. The session was really useful to the participating players who are beginning to build up their game play experience. Well done to all those involved!

Tuesday 10th December

Swanmore College was again the venue for an indoor athletics event, this time between year three and four pupils from local schools. Just as in the upper school competition last month, athletes scored points depending on how well they did in their track and field events and these points were collated to give an overall team total. The boys and girls points were then added together to give a school total. When our competitors had finished their events and the calculating was completed, Fair Oak ended up in second place! The final standings are given below. Well done to all of our participating pupils.

1st Durley - 80
2nd Fair Oak - 76
3rd Freegrounds 65
4th Wellstead - 64
5th Berrywood - 61
6th Droxford - 58
7th Wickham - 57
8th Botley - 56
9th Upham - 54
10th Stoke Park – 50

Wednesday 11th December

It was the turn of our girls football team to play their Under 11s Schools Cup hosted by Eastleigh Football Club today. Again, the winning team from the event would go on to represent Eastleigh at the Southern Finals, the winners of which will then play on a North vs South Final at Wembley Stadium before the National League play off final in May. Unfortunately, our girls missed out on qualification for the semi-finals, ending up with three close fought losses and one draw against Springhill from their four matches. Despite those results, Mr Stredwick was pleased with the way that all of our players performed today and was particularly impressed with the attitude of all of our athletes. They really made our school proud!
