February Sports News!

Wednesday 2nd February

Our girls football team played their Hampshire Cup quarter final away to Colden Common today. The team had to battle hard throughout on a very small pitch which made finding space to play very difficult. Despite this, Fair Oak had much the better of the encounter and won the game by a goal to nil with a tidy finish from a tight angle mid-way through the first half. Well done to all of those involved. We look forward to hearing who our opponents will be in the next round!

Tuesday 8th February

Fair Oak entered two teams into a girls football tournament today hosted by Swanmore College. Only the top two teams would qualify for the prestigious County Finals event next month! Fair Oak A lost their first pool match to St James and then drew their other fixture with Botley. Fair Oak B began with a draw against Droxford despite dominating the match and then followed that up with a win against Shamblehurst. These results meant that Fair Oak A finished second in their group and would play in a pool of teams all vying for third place overall while Fair Oak B qualified for the top group all of whom would battle it out for top spot overall! Fair Oak A began this next phase of the tournament with a narrow one nil defeat to Droxford and then lost three nil to Freegrounds which meant that they finished in sixth place. Fair Oak B began with a two nil win against St James and then drew a very even contest nil nil with Netley Abbey. These results put Fair Oak B in first place in their group and they therefore won the competition and now go through to the County Finals event as South Eastleigh and Winchester area winners! Well done to all of our participating girls!

Wednesday 9th February

Fair Oak entered a team into a local netball tournament today hosted by Nightingale Primary School. For the majority of our players it was the first time they had had the opportunity to play in competitive netball matches and so it was all the more impressive for our girls to finish in a very creditable third place! Well done to all of the team who represented our school brilliantly throughout the event.

Tuesday 15th February

A number of our year 3 pupils travelled to Wildern school today to participate in a cricket festival. Schools from the local area took part in the event which gave all of the pupils an opportunity to improve their skills. The Fair Oak team performed really well and represented our school superbly. Well done to all of those who took part.

Sunday 20th February

One of our table tennis players had previously qualified for the Individual County Finals held today at Testwood Sports College. The best players in the County were the opposition so our student did brilliantly to finish in fourth place overall! What a fantastic achievement. Well done.
