Fair Oak entered six teams into a girls year 3 and 4 football tournament held at Wyvern today amongst schools from the local area. The competition was a league format where each team played every other team with points being added up to decide where each side would finish. After all of the fixtures had been played, Fair Oak 6 finished in ninth place, with Fair Oak 5 finishing in eighth. Fair Oak 4 ended the tournament in seventh place while Fair Oak 3 were fifth. Runners up spot went to Fair Oak 1 while the tournament winners were Fair Oak 2 who amassed an impressive fourteen points. Well done to all of our girls who played brilliantly throughout the event.

Two girls teams were entered in the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament held today at Goals in Millbrook, Southampton. The winners of the tournament progress to the finals day to represent Southampton FC at Leicester City Stadium on Wednesday 23rd May. Our B team began their group fixtures with a six one loss to St Francis Primary School and then lost four two to Mount Pleasant, despite taking the lead in that game. Bassett Green were our next opponents and unfortunately they came out on top by four goals to nil. The final group game also ended in defeat, this time by five goals to one against Mason Moore Primary School. Our A team began their campaign by thrashing Weston Park TEN nil! That was followed up with a hard fought two all draw with Springhill. Next were Cherbourg Primary who were beaten four one by our girls before the final group match which ended in a three nil win to Fair Oak against Merdon Junior School. These results meant Fair Oak topped the group and progressed to the quarter final where Bassett Green were the opponents. Our girls put in a very solid performance to win four two. Valentine were the semi-final opponents and Fair Oak put in their finest display of the day so far by out working the opposition. Our two nil win was very much deserved! In the final, Fair Oak played Ludlow Junior School and from the very first whistle, our girls were determined not to give our opponents any time and space on the ball. Our opposition could not match the Fair Oak work rate and the final ended in a comprehensive five two win for Fair Oak. What a superb result – we now look forward to a trip to Leicester in May! Well done to both of our fantastic teams for their efforts today.
Thursday 8th February
Eleven of our top cross country runners had previously qualified for the Eastleigh and Winchester and Hamble District trials which were held today in Botley. All of our athletes did brilliantly, particularly as they were running against the best runners from the area. Six of our runners finished in the top ten of their races with two of these being first place finishes! This really is an amazing achievement. Well done to our competitors.

Wednesday 21st February
It was the turn of our boys footballers to participate in the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament held today at Goals in Millbrook, Southampton. Two teams were entered into the competition by Fair Oak and they were among over fifty other schools all vying for a place at the finals day in Leicester in May. Only the winners of the tournament would progress to that finals competition to represent Southampton FC. Our B team played brilliantly, winning their first four group matches. In their final pool game they faced a strong Hollybrook Junior side who also had a one hundred percent record from their four previous fixtures. The winners of the match would go through to the quarter finals. Unfortunately it was not to be for our boys and in the end, Hollybrook ran out three nil winners. However, our B team should be proud of their points total of twelve from just five games. Our A team also enjoyed success in their group, winning all five of their fixtures, the highlights being an eleven nil demolition of Tannersbrook and a three one win against a tough St Francis side. Those five wins meant that Fair Oak A qualified for the quarter final where they played Bassett Green. In a tight game it was Fair Oak who came out on top by three goals to one. Our semi final opponents were Valentine Primary and our boys showed superb character to twice come back from a goal down to draw two all. No further goals were added in extra time which meant that the match would be decided on penalties. Fair Oak kept their nerve and won the shoot out four one. In the final, Ludlow were the opponents. Fair Oak looked in control throughout and won by three goals to one to book their place in Leicester. This is the first time in the competitions history that the same school have won both the boys and girls tournaments in the same year. What a magnificent double! Well done to all of the boys who participated today.
