Tuesday 19th January
Eight boys and eight girls entered the Butterfly Wildern School Individual Table Tennis Tournament. Both the boys and girls tournaments were straight knock outs meaning that when a player lost, they were out of the main tournament. They were then however, entered into the Shield Tournament to ensure that all participants played as many games as possible. In the boys tournament, our athletes were up against some fantastic opposition and the furthest one of our competitors reached was the quarter final. In the girls competition, two Fair Oak athletes made it through to the semi finals where one of our players won and unfortunately the other lost. The final was a very tight affair but ended in celebration for our school as our athlete won which means that she will now go on to represent the area at the County Finals tournament in February. As well as a win here, one of our boys won the Shield Tournament so congratulations must go to that successful player too. Well done to all of our participating pupils!
Wednesday 20th January
Our boys football team played an away friendly match to Colden Common in preparation for our upcoming Hampshire Cup quarter final against Liphook. On a hard pitch due to the recent cold snap, our boys gave a solid account of themselves against a strong Colden Common side and were leading by two goals to nil at the half time break. In the second half the Fair Oak boys worked really hard to close down their opponents giving them no time on the ball and broke quickly with purpose. As the home side tired, the goals really began to fly in and by the time the final whistle came, the score stood at ELEVEN goals to one to Fair Oak. What a convincing result!
Tuesday 26th January
Four teams were entered into a basketball tournament which was held in Wyvern sports hall. The competition involved schools from the local area with all teams being split into two groups. Each team played every other team in their group with the overall winners playing each other in a final and the runners up playing against each other for third place. In Group 1, Fair Oak A won all of their matches and therefore qualified for the final. Fair Oak B ended up with the same points total as Durley A and Upham A but unfortunately missed out on second place and therefore the third place play off on baskets scored. Over in Group 2, Fair Oak D did brilliantly finishing as runners up while Fair Oak C finished in third place. This meant that Fair Oak D played Durley A for third place but lost out to their opponents. In the final, Fair Oak A played Upham B and it was Fair Oak who ran out as comfortable winners which meant that they won the overall tournament. Well done to all those participating pupils!
Thursday 28th January
Our boys football team played their much anticipated Hampshire Cup quarter final match at home to Liphook today and it was our visitors who took an early lead in the game despite pressure from the home side. However, Fair Oak continued to press their opponents and deservedly equalised the leave the scores level at the break. A very good second half showing from Fair Oak resulted in a further two goals which meant that the final score stood at three goals to one to our boys. We now look forward to hearing who our semi final opponents will be!
