Monday 13th January

Fair Oak entered a boys and girls team into the first qualifying tournament of the Premier League Primary Stars Football Competition held at Henry Beaufort School in Winchester. Only two boys and one girls teams would make it through to the next stage which will be held at The Staplewood Training Complex. Our girls team performed really well throughout but unfortunately missed out on qualifying with two one nil losses and a nil nil draw from their three fixtures. Our boys team beat Cliddesden Primary School three nil in their opening match and followed that up with a one nil win over Herne. A two nil win against St Peter’s was the next result before our team faced a tough match against Weeke Primary School. Fair Oak took the lead and held it until, with two minutes left, Weeke equalised. Unfortunately our opponents scored again leaving Fair Oak with no time to reply. The final fixture was against Sun Hill Junior School and Fair Oak won by two goals to nil. However, the team just missed out on qualification by one point! Despite this, Mr Stredwick was pleased with the way that all of our players performed today and was particularly impressed with the attitude of our teams. They really made our school proud!

Tuesday 14th January

Today our basketball team played a qualifying tournament at Wildern for the County Finals. Only the winning side from the event would qualify. Teams were split into three groups with each team playing every other team in their pool. The top teams would make it through to the semi-final along with the best second placed team. Fair Oak began with an even encounter against St Johns. Both sides rather cancelled each other out and the fixture ended nil nil. In the second match Fair Oak took on Freegrounds. It was our opponents who took the lead but Fair Oak hit back to leave the final score at a basket a piece. The final group fixture saw our side take on Netley Abbey and despite dominating, Fair Oak couldn’t take one of the numerous chances they created and so this match also ended scoreless which meant that Fair Oak missed out on a semi-final spot with their total of three points. Well done to all of the team who played with passion and enthusiasm throughout.

Friday 17th January

The Fair Oak year 5 and 6 girls tag rugby squad took on Oakley Junior School today in training matches. The session was really useful to the participating players who really are beginning to build up their game play experience in preparation for future fixtures! Well done to all those involved.

Monday 20th January

The Fair Oak boys year 5 and 6 team travelled to Botley to play a friendly football match today. The game was entertaining throughout with eight goals being scored! The hosts had much the better of the first half and were leading at the break by three goals to nil. Fair Oak got two quick fire second half goals before Botley responded to make the score line 4-2. Fair Oak hit back with two more goals and despite spending all of the final few minutes in the Botley half, could not find a winner. What an exciting game!

Tuesday 21st January

Fair Oak took two development teams to play in a basketball tournament held today at Wildern school. The majority of our two teams had not played a competitive basketball fixture before but they all performed superbly. Fair Oak 1 lost their opening game to Botley 1 by one basket to nil. This was followed by another narrow defeat by the same score line against Berrywood 1. They then drew nil nil with Freegrounds before rounding off their tournament with an impressive four one win over Hamble! Fair Oak 2 began with a one nil win against Botley 2 but then lost one nil to Berrywood 2. Fair Oak 2 won both of their remaining two matches, one nil against Netlay Abbey and two nil against Hambledon! Well done to our players who showed a lot of promise for the future.

Friday 24th January

A strong Oakley tag rugby team visited Fair Oak participate in tag rugby training matches. The session was really useful to the participating players who are really building up their game play experience in preparation for upcoming competitions!

Tuesday 28th January

Fair Oak entered a team into a hockey County Finals qualifying tournament today held at Swanmore College between local schools. Fair Oak began their group matches with a very even game against Berrywood but unfortunately it was our opponents who won by a goal to nil. Next up were Netley and despite another good performance, Fair Oak were unlucky to lose again, this time by two goals to one. The final group match was against Freegrounds 2 and Fair Oak put in another strong performance and this time got the result their play deserved, a one nil victory! Unfortunately, Fair Oak missed out on the semi-finals but the team should be proud of themselves and will probably feel their play throughout merited more points than the three they amassed. Well done to the team for representing the school so well throughout.

Wednesday 29th January

The boys football team played their Hampshire Cup quarter-final at home to Hook With Warsash today and came away with a deserved place in the semi-final. The visitors took an early lead from a corner but this seemed to spark Fair Oak into life who got the ball down and began to play some excellent one and two touch football. Hook struggled to match the home side and at half time, Fair Oak had established a two one lead. The pattern continued in the second half and Fair Oak added another three goals without reply to leave the final score at five one!

It was the turn of our lower school tag rugby players to pit their wits against Oakley in tag rugby today. For many of our players it was the first time that they had played for the school and Mr Stredwick was extremely excited by the number of prospects for the future that we have in the lower school. Well done to all of those who participated!
