Well done to all of our fantastic tag rugby players. There really were some outstanding performances today!

Four of our best cross country runners had previously negotiated their way through two gruelling qualifying competitions to make it to the Cross Country Championship finals race which was held today at Down Grange in Basingstoke. Our athletes were up against well over one hundred of the very best runners in Hampshire in both the girls and boys events. Our female athlete finished in a superb eighth place while our three boys finished eleventh, sixty ninth and one hundred and fifth. What a brilliant effort!

Thursday 8th March

Two teams were entered into a tag rugby tournament today held at Wildern School between schools from the Hamble and Eastleigh area. The competition was a qualifier for the County Finals later in the year and only the top two teams would progress! Fair Oak A and B were placed in separate groups. Our A team beat Wellstead, Netley Abbey and Swanmore B to finish as group winners while our B team beat both Berrywood A and Swanmore but drew their last match against Swanmore A. These results meant that they just missed out on winning the group to Swanmore A. Fair Oak A were placed into the pool winners group while our B team went into the pool runners up group. Fair Oak B won all three of these fixtures against Swanmore B, Hamble and Freegrounds to finish in fifth place overall. Our A team began with a win against Botley A, then lost to Swanmore A before finally beating Freegrounds to finish runners up in the competition and therefore qualify for the county finals tournament! Well done to both of our teams who performed brilliantly throughout the competition.

Tuesday 13th March

Fair Oak today entered a netball tournament played at Wyvern between local schools. The competition took a league format where each team played every other team. Fair Oak began with a one nil loss to Upham before drawing nil nil with Stoke Park 2. In the final fixture, Fair Oak put in their best display of the competition to beat Stoke Park A five two. These results meant that Fair Oak finished in second place overall with eight points. Well done to our magnificent netballers!

Monday 26th March

Our annual Invitation Cross Country Relay Race took place here at Fair Oak Junior School. Twenty three schools participated in the event with around six hundred runners in total competing. Our school entered multiple teams into the four races which was great to see. Our lower school girls A team finished in second place while our lower school boys A team finished in sixth. Our upper school girls team finished eleventh and our upper school boys A team finished a creditable fourth. What brilliant running by all of those pupils who participated!

Tuesday 27th March

Fair Oak entered two teams into a girls football competition today between schools from the Hamble area. Two sides would make it through to the School Games County Finals in June so our girls were determined to do well. The competition took a league format where every side played every other side. The two teams with the most points at the end would qualify for the finals day. Our B team put in some great displays, but against tough opposition they drew one game against Swanmore B and unfortunately lost their other fixtures. This meant that they finished in seventh place overall. Our A team began with a three nil win against Swanmore B but followed that up with a one nil loss to Freegrounds, despite having the better of the game. A nil nil draw with Shamblehurst and a one nil win over Netley Abbey continued the mixed bag of results but the girls ended with two wins, the first by three goals to nil over Fair Oak B and then a one nil win against Swanmore A. This left Fair Oak with thirteen points and second place. Well done to both of our sides and particularly our A team who have qualified for the School Games County Finals later on in the school year!
