Dear Fair Oak Family,

What a fantastic first few days back! It’s been lovely to see so many smiling, happy faces. It’s also been lovely to see the children so enthusiastic to be back in the classroom and already showing such positive attitudes to learning and quickly falling back into all the routines of school life.

The music, bubbles and balloons on Monday was a great hit and made for a great atmosphere at the start and end of the day. For that reason, we are going to continue with the use of music to liven up our mornings and send our children off dancing all the way home on a Monday and Friday (weather dependent) for the next few weeks at least.

We’ve seen so many children prove just how resilient they can be and have adapted to everything extremely quickly. However, we know that some children will struggle more than others. If you have any concerns, as always, feel free to contact your child’s teacher via the school office or contact Mrs Cooper for family/pastoral/SEND support.

Social distancing on campus

Please can we take this opportunity to remind everyone that social distancing on campus is vitally important in reducing the spread of COIVD 19. We have been informed by Wyvern that there are occasionally our pupils as well as Infant pupils who are walking along and climbing up the bank along the road by the Wyvern pathways. Please can we ask that your children are kept off this bank for their safety in terms of unlevel ground but also ensuring they keep a safe distance from the Wyvern students.

Also, where possible can parents leaving the campus after drop off / collection leave following the one-way system off of campus and leave along the grassed area behind the car parking spaces / near the art block as this means there is no crossing bubbles between families and students at Wyvern moving around their site.

Car Parking

As mentioned, previously we are not issuing car parking permits for access to site during this period unless for very exceptional circumstances and those that are blue badge holders. If your permit end date has expired, you will no longer be able to access the site with your old pass. The gates are manned by both FOJS and Wyvern staff as well as Wates who are the main contractors on the school campus. This change is due to increased number of construction vehicles on site before, during and after the school day as well as reduced parking on campus as a whole due to work being carried out and various areas being blocked off.  It is also allowing for adequate safety and social distancing of our parents at drop off and pick up (which is along the road) and safety in regard to movement of cars with children and parents in the vicinity.
