Our girls and boys football teams played their Premier League Primary Stars National Finals tournament today at The King Power Stadium in Leicester as Southampton Football Clubs representatives. Both our girls and boys team began their campaigns against representative teams of Manchester City. Despite dominating the first half of the match, our boys drew nil nil while our girls lost narrowly by two goals to one. Next up our teams faced Burnley and again, a dominant display by our boys was only rewarded with a nil nil draw while our girls lost by two goals to one. Manchester United were our next opponents. Both of our teams performed superbly. Our boys stormed into a two goal lead before Man United scored a late consolation while our girls produced a gritty performance to beat their opponents by a goal to nil. The final round of fixtures saw our teams face Stoke City. Our boys lost two nil while our girls drew nil nil despite dominating the game. These results meant that our boys finished in fourth position in their group with five points while our girls finished third in their group with four points. Despite not qualifying for the semi-final, both of our teams should not feel disappointed in themselves. They represented Fair Oak brilliantly in a highly competitive National Final – the whole of the Fair Oak family is so proud of all of those who took part. Well done!
