Dear Parents/Guardians,
Sustrans Big Pedal
Fair Oak Junior School will again be participating in this years Sustrans Big Pedal which is the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge. The aim of this event is to inspire pupils, staff and parents to choose human power for their journey to school. Walking will be counted alongside cycling and scooting.
Sustrans Big Pedal will run for 10 days from 19 to 30 April 2021 and is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK. On each day, schools compete to see who can get as many of their pupils, staff and parents cycling, walking or scooting to school. Journeys will be recorded and schools will select their best five days. This information will determine our final overall position against all other participating schools.
If your child decides to ride in to school during the Big Pedal, they will need to wait until their year group enters school and then park their bikes at the bike sheds before heading to their classroom. Remember, all pupils need a cycling permit to cycle to school. Permit application letters can be collected from outside the school office or from Mr Stredwick.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jon Stredwick
