    Wednesday 1st October

Four girls teams were entered into a football competition held at Wyvern involving other local schools. Our teams played brilliantly throughout showing a high level of both skill and commitment, but most pleasing of all, the Fair Oak girls all played the game in a sporting manner. Group one was won by Fair Oak Red with Fair Oak Blue finishing as runners up. In group two the winners were Fair Oak Green. Upham finished second with Fair Oak Yellow in third place. This meant that Fair Oak Red played Fair Oak Green in the final and Fair Oak Blue played Upham in a third/fourth place match. The third/fourth place result went the way of Fair Oak by three goals to nil and the final was won by Fair Oak Red who beat Fair Oak Green three one. Well done to all those who took part!

    Friday 3rd October

Our Year 5 boys football team took part in a Hampshire finals tournament at Wide Lane which included the best teams in the county. Fair Oak got off to a solid start with a one all draw against a strong Sarisbury side. In our second match against Lyndhurst of Portsmouth we won by a score line of two goals to one. Holy Family of Southampton were our next opponents and they too were dispatched this time by a scoreline of two goals to nil. Our final two fixtures ended goalless against Castle Hill and Purbrook despite Fair Oak dominance which meant that by the end of the tournament Fair Oak were unbeaten. Despite this, our boys ended up in third place even though they had beaten the eventual champions, Lyndhurst. The Fair Oak boys played brilliantly throughout and did the school proud. Well done!

    Tuesday 7th October

Twenty four of the quickest runners from the Lower School took part in a cross country race which was held at Fleming Park. The race included many schools from the local area so the standard of running was high. As usual, our pupils performed superbly. In both the Year 3 girls and Year 3 boys races three of our runners finished in the top ten. For the Year 4 races, one Fair Oak runner finished in the top ten for the girls while three of our Year 4 boys came in the top ten, one of whom won the race! What great running from the all of our Lower School runners.

    Friday 10th October

The boys Year 6 football team had previously qualified for this Hampshire finals tournament held at Wide Lane playing fields. Just like the Year 5 tournament, the opposition included only the very best teams from around the county. Our boys began with a draw against Purbrook before recording their first win in the next game by a goal to nil against Northwood. This was followed up by another victory by Fair Oak, this time by two goals to nil. Lyndhurst from Portsmouth were our next opponents and unfortunately, in a very tight game, our opponents just edged us out one nil despite a lot of Fair Oak pressure and a superb shot from us which rattled the post! Our next two games ended in one all draws firstly against Hook with Warsash and then against Bartley. This left Fair Oak with one game of the tournament left against St Swithun-Wells and our boys ended the tournament in style with a two nil win. All this meant that when the final points totals were collated, Fair Oak finished in third place behind Bartley and the winners, Lyndhurst. Well done to all of our boys who worked hard throughout the tournament and did our school proud.

    Tuesday 14th October

Nineteen pupils were entered into a cross country race for years 5 and 6 which was held at Fleming Park. Many other local schools were represented so the standard of running was high. In both the Year 5 girls and boys races, two of our runners finished in the top ten and in the Year 6 races, Fair Oak had one runner in the top ten for both girls and boys. Well done to all of the athletes who took part!

    Thursday 16th October

The Fair Oak boys A team played their second round match in the Hampshire Cup at home to Hook with Warsash. The match started at a frantic pace with both sides showing a great amount of commitment and skill but it was Fair Oak who took an early lead. The pressure mounted on the away side and the goals kept flowing for Fair Oak. Indeed, at half time the score line stood at five goals to one in favour of the home team. Our boys added a further three goals in the second half and ended up convincing eight one winners.

    Tuesday 21st October

Our girls A team were drawn away to Warren Park Primary School in Havant for their second round match in the Hampshire Cup. Fair Oak had to soak up a lot of pressure throughout the match but were devastating on the break and as a result, at half time the score stood at two nil to the away side. Great defending by our girls again gave us a solid base on which to build in the second half and we soon scored again to make it three nil. This is the way the match ended. We look forward to hearing the draw for the next round.

    Wednesday 22nd October

Fair Oak entered one team into both the boys and girls Table Tennis Wyvern School Team Championships. Our team did brilliantly. The girls won their competition comfortably with Berrywood the runners up. The boys competition was a lot closer. The eventual winners were Knightwood who won by only one match. The runners up were Fair Oak. Despite this, both of our teams have qualified for the County Finals to be held at Testwood College on November 28th!

  • Fun Run Success

    Tue 21 Oct 2014

On the afternoon of Friday 17th October, the pupils, staff and parents of Fair Oak Junior School took part in a sponsored Fun Run around the Pavilion fields next to our school. Despite the poor weather, everybody who took part enjoyed the event and some even preferred the fact that the course was rather muddy due to the recent rain!

As it was a sponsored run all the proceeds raised will go towards purchasing sports equipment for the school. A big thank you must go to all the pupils who are still collecting their sponsor money as well as to all of the families who came along to support the event and finally to those who are sponsoring our pupils. Please keep the sponsor money coming in!

    Wednesday 10th September

Our girls football A team got their new season off to a flier in the first round of the Hampshire Cup at Home to Hook with Warsash. Fair Oak are trying to defend the title we won last season and despite the summer break and lack of football action for some of the team, the girls won 7-0 with an assured passing display combined with some great finishing in front of goal. Fair Oak showed great tenacity and energy throughout displaying a great deal of promise for the coming season.

    Tuesday 16th September

The boys football A team participated in a tournament held at Wildern school. There was a lot at stake as the winners of the tournament would go on to represent the area at a county final competition to be held on Friday 10th October at Wide Lane. Our boys were drawn in a tough group and started slowly with a one all draw against Botley. In the second game against Berrywood, Fair Oak were clearly switched on and after a dominant display they ran out one nil winners with the performance more comfortable than the score line would suggest. They went on to beat Freegrounds in the final group game which meant that they qualified for the final where they would play St James who were the winners of the other group. In the final Fair Oak were again dominant and won by a goal to nil! Well done boys, a great achievement.

    Wednesday 17th September

Fair Oak boys football A team played their first match of the year in the Hampshire Cup away to Abbotswood in Totton. This year, just like our girls, the boys are aiming to defend the title they won last year. On a small pitch with a hard surface, quality flowing football was difficult but despite the conditions Fair Oak looked comfortable throughout the match and come the final whistle, had won by four goals to two. This was a great result as Abbotswood were definitely a contender for the cup this season.

    Tuesday 23rd September

Our girls A team were entered into a football tournament at Wildern School involving many other schools from the local area. Just like the boys tournament held there earlier in the month, the winners would qualify for a county finals day to be held at Wide Lane. The girls started well, beating Netley by a goal to nil. Our second match was more comfortable and resulted in a two nil win for Fair Oak against Durley. Our final match was against St James and unfortunately the game ended goalless which meant that we finished second. Well done to the team who played superbly throughout.

    Wednesday 24th September

Four boys teams were entered into a football tournament held at Wyvern. The tournament involved teams from other local schools. All of the boys played their matches in the right spirit and did the school proud! Fair Oak Yellow ended up finishing third in their group. Fair Oak Green also finished third in their group while Fair Blue were runners up in the same group. The final was held between Fair Oak Red and Durley. Our boys played brilliantly and won by a comfortable two goals to nil!
