Tuesday 14th September
Berrywood School hosted the first football tournament of the year for year 5 and 6 boys today. Fair Oak entered two teams into the event. Fair Oak 1 lost two and won one of their group matches which meant that they finished up in third place in their pool. Fair Oak 2 drew all three of their group games nil nil! These results meant that they also finished in third place in their group and the two Fair Oak teams would therefore play each other in the next pool stage of the competition along with Botley. Fair Oak 1 took on Botley first and lost by two goals to nil. Fair Oak 2 then beat Botley, again by a scoreline of two goals to nil before the final fixture for our teams, Fair Oak 1 vs Fair Oak 2! This fixture was played in a great spirit with all of the boys really enjoying being given the opportunity to pit themselves against their friends. Happily, the fixture ended in a draw which meant that our teams finished the overall competition in joint sixth place! Both squads showed great sportsmanship and worked so hard throughout the event, representing our school superbly. Well done to all those who took part!
Tuesday 21st September
It was the turn of our year 5 and 6 girls to play in their football tournament at Berrywood today and, just like the boys, our two teams did us proud. Fair Oak 2 drew two of their group matches 0-0 and won the other two both by a scoreline of 1-0. This put them in a strong position in their pool with eight points. Fair Oak 1 won all four of their group fixtures without conceding a goal, just like Fair Oak 2. These results meant that they won their pool with twelve points. Once all the scores had been collected and the points of all competing teams had been collated, Fair Oak 2 discovered that they had just missed out on the semi finals on goal difference by one goal! Fair Oak 1 would play Netley Abbey in their semi final. This match saw Fair Oak on top for the majority of the encounter but they could not find a way to put the ball in the net and so the match went to penalties. Fair Oak held their nerve winning 2-1. In the final, Droxford were the opponents. Fair Oak dominated but Droxford defended admirably and again, the tie went to penalties. In a dramatic shoot out it was our opponents who prevailed 4-3 to win the event. Mr Stredwick was really proud of all of our competing athletes who showed great technical ability and endeavour throughout. Well done girls!
Wednesday 22nd September
Our girls played their first round in the Hampshire Cup today away to Anton Junior School in Andover. The team were superb from the first whistle, dominating the first half and by half time, Fair Oak were 3-0 up. The second half followed a similar pattern and at full time, the score stood at 5-1 to Fair Oak. We now eagerly await the draw for the next round!
Monday 27th September
Colden Common boys were the visitors to Fair Oak today to play the first round of the Hampshire Cup. Fair Oak shot out of the traps and quickly asserted their control over the opposition, racing into a three goal lead. However, Colden Common fought back and slowly crept back into the game scoring mid way through the first period. That goal seemed to give the away side real belief and Fair Oak were pinned back in their own half conceding a further two goals to leave the score 3 -3 at half time! Colden Common went ahead early after the break. Despite constant Fair Oak pressure after that, our boys could not find the equaliser due to a combination of some fine goal keeping and last ditch defending. Well done to all of our players for a fine effort today.
Tuesday 28th September
September was rounded off with a year 3 and 4 boys football tournament amongst schools from the South Eastleigh and Winchester sports partnership. Fair Oak entered two teams into the event. Fair Oak 1 won all four of their pool matches which meant that they topped their group and would progress through along with the other group winners to play for the chance to become overall tournament winners. Fair Oak 2 drew all three of their group matches 0-0. This put them in last place in their pool with three points in a very tight group – the other three teams all finished with four points! Fair Oak 2 would therefore play their final fixtures in group 4. They began these matches with a 1-0 loss to Freegrounds 1 but followed that up with a fantastic 1-0 win against Berrywood 2 which meant that they had only lost one match all tournament! Fair Oak 1 began their next fixtures with a 1-0 victory over Freegrounds 2 and finished with another victory, again by a goal to nil against Botley. They therefore won the overall event with a 100% record! What a great result for the school. Well done boys.

Safety on site
Please be reminded that only permit holders are allowed to bring vehicles on to the school site. There are to be no vehicle movements between 3.30 – 3.40 pm to keep pedestrians safe. This means that if you have a permit, you cannot move your vehicle in this 10-minute time slot.
The 3 schools on Campus have agreed to reinstate the one-way pedestrian system when entering and leaving the site, meaning no Fair Oak Junior School children or parents should use the bus lane at the front of Wyvern to enter or leave our school – again to keep everyone safe. We have attached the original map to remind you. We appreciate your support in helping to ensure the safety of the Fair Oak family.

Dear Fair Oak Family,

Welcome back! It was wonderful to welcome the children back to school this morning and despite some nerves on arrival, the children soon settled well and by lunchtime, it was like they had never been away. We now look forward to an exciting half term continuing our learning journey!
We have noticed today that several children were wearing hooped earrings. This, for obvious reasons, can be a real safety issue - only stud earrings are permitted in school. Thank you for your support with this.
