    Dear Fair Oak Family,

    Happy Monday everybody!

As we edge towards December, we just wanted to make you aware that unfortunately we are unable to operate a school Christmas card post box this year due to Covid implications. We understand that this will be a big disappointment for the children but we hope that you can appreciate that every decision made in the current climate is for the health and safety of both the children and staff. Thank you as always for your ongoing support.

    School Games Mark 2019-2020

Last year Youth Sport Trust made the decision to suspend School Games Mark for the year 2019/20 due to the COVID pandemic. However, they thought that it was important to acknowledge the excellent work that schools had done both in the first two terms and then during lockdown and therefore two awards were created to recognise schools that had shown this commitment to physical activity and to helping to maintain the physical and mental health of pupils. We are delighted to announce that Fair Oak Junior School has achieved both awards! Further details are given below:

Certificate of recognition for ongoing commitment and achievement in the School Games

This acknowledges your support during the Autumn Term 2019 and Spring Term 2020 and for your School’s engagement in the School Games programme. You have offered a range of opportunities in PE, Sport and Physical Activity for all children in your school and you worked hard towards the Mission and Vision of the School Games. It is also awarded on the grounds that it most likely that you would have achieved Games Mark Platinum if you had continued with the same level of engagement for the rest of the year.

    (Copy certificate attached)

    School Games Virtual Certificate

This is to acknowledge the work you did during the summer term. During those very hard times your school continued to engage your children in Physical Education, Sport and Physical Activity and provided excellent virtual opportunities for them to be active and develop physically. This was through creating your own materials and signposting to other programmes.

    (Copy certificate attached)

    Christmas Dinner orders

The last day for getting your child’s Christmas Dinner Order to us is tomorrow! We have attached a copy of the letter again in case you need it. Thank you.

  • CHRISTMAS FAYRE LETTER 2020

    Mon 23 Nov 2020

                      FAIR OAK JUNIOR SCHOOL

Botley Road, Fair Oak, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO50 7AN

    T: 023 80 693195

Acting Head Teacher: Mrs Katy Layley

    Dear Parent/Carer,

Non-school uniform day –Friday 4th December

PSA Christmas Fayre – Tuesday 15th December

The PSA are keen to make sure that the children are still able to enjoy the fun they would usually have in school during the Christmas period. With this in mind, we are organising a Christmas Fayre for the children, albeit, slightly different from the usual format.

On Tuesday 15th December, the children can wear their Christmas jumpers and once they have had their Christmas lunch, they will be able to play a variety of games and stalls set up in their classrooms (these will cost approx. 50p each). The children will visit their year group stalls, as a class, so that they can still remain socially distanced.

More information will be sent out about the games and stalls, but in order to support the event, there will be a non-school uniform day on Friday 4th December. If you are able to send your child in with either a £1 contribution or a wrapped bar of chocolate or sweets, this will help with providing prizes for the Christmas Fayre.

Thank you as always, for your support,

    PSA

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

    Happy Monday everybody!

    Christmas Jumper Day!

Tuesday 15th December is our Christmas lunch day and we would love the children come to school wearing a Christmas jumper for the occasion! If they don’t have a Christmas jumper, anything festive will be okay, (antlers for example?) The children will still need to wear school uniform apart from their festive jumpers/accessories. Christmas lunch day is always such a lovely occasion for the staff and the children and this year in particular we all need something nice to look forward to, I think you will agree!

    Vehicles on the campus

If you have a permit and as such are permitted to drive on to the campus, please be careful when parking, manoeuvring, opening car doors etc. Unfortunately a staff member’s car was damaged (parked near to the green gate entrance to the junior school), by a neighbouring car opening the door. Please try to park along by the front green gates, eliminating traffic going down to the staff car park by the field - for health and safety reasons. Thank you.

    Years 4/5 and 6

We would appreciate your feedback on the remote learning provided by us during the first national lockdown and ongoing periods of isolation. Please spare a few minutes go give us your thoughts. (Year 3 were not pupils with us during the initial period of lockdown which is why we haven’t included them). You can find the survey here:

    https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NKYCWF3

Please complete the feedback no later than 12pm Monday 14th December.

    Tea towels

Please make sure you return your order for year group tea-towels. The order deadline is Thursday 26th November. We only order the exact amount so there will be no chance to buy them after this deadline. Thank you, PSA.

    PSA Christmas Fayre

Please have a look at the attached letter regarding this year’s PSA Christmas Fayre – it may look a little different this year but we aim to give the children a fun festive experience none the less. All the information you need is in this letter!

    Can you help?....

We have been made aware of an incident that took place just outside of the school site last Friday involving a car being damaged by a pushchair? If you witnessed this incident or were involved in any way, please can you make contact with the school office on 02380 693195. Thank you.

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

    Happy Wednesday everybody!

    Tea Towel orders/payments.

Further to the PSA letter that went out on Monday with Oak bites, we just wanted to add that if you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Fair Oak Junior School PSA’. Because this is a PSA fund raiser (which is paid in to the PSA bank account), we cannot take online payments through our Scopay system. We have attached the letter again, just in case you missed it.

    Scopay reminders….

Did you know that you can set up reminders on your online payment account (Scopay)? This can be set to remind you when a dinner money balance falls below a certain amount, or – in more ‘normal’ times – to remind you when payments are due for trips etc. A really helpful way to keep track of things.

    Adult Education courses available:

Please find attached information regarding free online courses that are available through R.C.S. You just need to email the address provided on the attachment if there is anything you are interested in.

At present they are only able to deliver courses online due to the current lockdown but will be returning to classroom teaching once restrictions have been lifted.

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

Happy Monday – After a fabulous week last week culminating with Children in Need on Friday, we are looking forward to another busy week in school!

    Eastleigh Basic Food Bank

    • In recognising that we might have a difficult winter, the Parish Council have purchased two yellow wheelie bins to receive donations towards the Eastleigh basic food bank.  The bins are placed at the Woodland Community Centre, Savernake Way every weekday between 1000 hrs and 1600 hrs and the Parish Office, 2 Knowle Park Lane every weekday between 0830 hrs and 1530 hrs.  Our caretaker will collect all donations from the bins daily and drop these to the Food Bank. Thank you in advance for any donations that you may feel you can make.

    Children’s portrait tea towels

    • Please find attached a letter about tea towels created from the children’s self-portraits and how you can order them in time for Christmas, (we are also sending a hard copy of this letter home with the children just in case you don’t have access to a computer or printer at home).

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

Happy Monday! The children are settling back in well after the half term break and it feels like their prolonged absence from school is a distant memory. We hope that you would agree that they have come a long way in the weeks since they all returned in September.

***** Reminder Photo Order deadline tomorrow Tuesday 10th November********

(Photo orders must be received in the office no later than tomorrow)

    Current Guidelines/Restrictions.

Thank you for your ongoing support however, please be reminded that we are currently in a national lockdown. Please at all times, follow the Government rules, especially conforming to social distancing on the campus and following the one way systems. Thank you.

    Breakfast Club

Please may we ask that Breakfast Club payments are sent in in a named envelope indicating the days that are being paid for? It is really helpful if you could pay for more than one day at a time. Thank you, as always for your support.

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

Mid-term reports (in lieu of Parents’ Evenings)

As per our previous communications – mid-term reports will be emailed out in place of our usual face to face parents’ evenings.  Please look out for these over the next few days.

October 2020 Sports News -Thursday 15th October

Fair Oak entered twenty of our top cross country runners from each year into a ‘virtual’ cross country event today organised by Boundary Oak School. There were four races in total, one for each year group. Our year 3 and 4 athletes completed a one kilometre run around the Lapstone playing fields while our year 5 and 6 athletes ran two kilometres. Times were sent off to Boundary Oak who compiled all participating schools running results and then calculated the overall standings. Amazingly, Fair Oak finished as winners in all of the four year group races! What a fantastic result for our school. Well done to all of those athletes who took part!

    Visits to the gate

Whilst we appreciate that sometimes things get forgotten or alarms get slept through(!), we would be so grateful if you could make sure your child has everything they need with them when they arrive at school. On average, we are making 7 or 8 trips to the gate per hour and whilst our step count is looking very good, trying to get some work done can be tricky! Thank you.

    School dinner menu

We understand that the current menu being offered by our school kitchen and which had been added to our website, had some errors – i.e. meals repeated twice in a week. This has now been rectified and updated. Apologies for any confusion caused..
