    Tuesday 11th September

Berrywood School hosted a qualifying football tournament for the Year Five County Finals which takes place later this month at Wide Lane. Only one school from the event would qualify for the finals. Fair Oak began the group stages with a hard fought one nil win over Freegrounds and then followed that up with another win against Stoke Park by the same score line. The final group game was against Wickham. Fair Oak again played well and ran out comfortable winners by three goals to nil to put our boys through to the semi finals as group winners. Botley were our opponents here and in a very close game it was Botley who won with a goal in the final few moments of the match. Despite the loss, Mr Stredwick was extremely pleased with the boys. The squad showed great sportsmanship and worked so hard throughout the competition to get to the latter stages. Well done to all those who took part!

    Friday 14th September

Our boys football team played their first round match today in the Hampshire Cup at home to Oakley and eased through to the next round with a superb performance. Fair Oak raced into an early lead with a very well taken goal. However, Oakley equalised against the run of play to leave the half time score at one a piece. However, the goals flowed in the second half with Fair Oak adding six to leave the final score at seven one to the home side. What a good start to our Hampshire Cup campaign!

    Monday 17th September

Herne girls football team visited Fair Oak for a friendly match today to help prepare our team for the season ahead. The first half was a very even affair with the visitors scoring the only goal to lead at the break. Herne then doubled their lead shortly after the interval before Fair Oak pulled a goal back. However, the visitors pulled away again, scoring two more goals which left the final score at four one to the away side. Well done to all of our players who worked really hard in very hot conditions.

    Tuesday 18th September

Today it was the turn of our Year 6 boys football team to play their qualifying tournament at Berrywood for the upcoming County Finals competition to be held at Wide Lane. First up for Fair Oak were Freegrounds. Our boys were in control right from the start and ran out two nil winners. Next up were Bursledon and Fair Oak put in a classy display, winning this time by four goals to nil. A one nil win over Stoke Park followed that and then in the final group match, Wellstead were also beaten by a goal to nil with a well taken goal late in the match. These results meant that Fair Oak finished top of their group and qualified for the semi-final to play Bishops Waltham. Fair Oak dominated and won two nil. Our final opponents were a dogged Swanmore side who defended stoutly but eventually buckled under the Fair Oak pressure, conceding a goal mid-way through the match. This tournament win means that the team have qualified for the County Finals. What a fantastic result – the boys did not concede a goal throughout. Well done to all of those who took part!

    Tuesday 25th September

September ended with a girls football tournament at Berrywood Junior School between teams from the local area. The competition consisted of pools with each team playing every other team in their group. The top team in each pool would then play in the semi-finals. Fair Oak began with a hard fought nil nil draw with Stoke Park before losing another tight game to Bursledon by a goal to nil. Swanmore were our next opponents and again our girls lost one nil in a very tight match. Our final fixture saw our side dominate against St James but Fair Oak could not find the goal they deserved and so ended the tournament with a draw, missing out on the semi-finals. Well played to our girls for a battling performance throughout.
