  • October Sports News - We Are County Champions!

    Tue 30 Oct 2018

    Monday 1st October

Fair Oak took an upper school tag rugby team to Oakley to participate in tag rugby training matches to help our side prepare for the season ahead. The session was really useful to our players who are developing nicely and should head into their upcoming competitions with confidence.

    Tuesday 2nd October

Fair Oak entered six teams into a boys Year 5 and 6 football tournament held at Wyvern today amongst schools from the local area. The competition was a league format where each team played every other team with points being added up to decide where each side would finish. After all of the fixtures had been played, Fair Oak 6 finished in sixth place with Fair Oak 5 finishing in fifth. Fair Oak 4 ended up in fourth position with Fair Oak 2 finishing third. A point ahead of them were Fair Oak 3 who ended up as runners up to Fair Oak 1 who won all of their fixtures and were crowned tournament winners! Well done to all of our boys who played brilliantly throughout the event.

    Friday 5th October

Our boys football team played their County Finals tournament at Wide Lane today. The competition involved the winners of other regional tournaments from around Hampshire so the standard of play was extremely high. Fair Oak began with a hard fought one nil win against Purbrook and then followed that up with a two nil victory over Saint Bedes of Basingstoke. Elvetham Heath of Fleet were our next opponents and Fair Oak won again by a goal to nil. Abbotswood got the better of our boys in the next fixture to beat Fair Oak one nil. Saint Bedes of Winchester were the next opponents and Fair Oak recovered from their Abbotswood loss to win by a goal to nil. Next up were Gomer and Fair Oak put in a superb performance to win five nil! Lyndhurst of Portsmouth were then dispatched by three goals to nil before the final match of the competition which ended in another victory for Fair Oak against Ryde by a goal to nil. This meant that Fair Oak finished with twenty one points from a possible twenty four which is a fantastic achievement. That points total left Fair Oak in top spot which means that our team will now go forward to represent Hampshire at the South of England Finals in Bristol later on in the year. What an amazing achievement by our boys. Well done to the whole squad!

    Monday 8th October

The standard of competition was extremely high and all of our athletes performed brilliantly. Individually five of our runners finished in the top ten of their races which is a fantastic achievement while our Year 5 five girls team won their overall event! Well done to all of our athletes. What a lot of cross country talent we have in our school!

    Friday 12th October

It was the turn of our lower school tag rugby players to pit their wits against Oakley in tag rugby today. For many of our players it was the first time that they had played for the school and Mr Stredwick was extremely excited by the number of prospects for the future that we have in the lower school. Well done to all of those who participated!

  • Bikers Breakfast A Real Success!

    Mon 15 Oct 2018

This morning Fair Oak Junior School held a Bikers Breakfasts for our pupils who hold a Cycle To School Permit. Funding from SUSTRANS (https://www.sustrans.org.uk/) allowed us to provide free light breakfasts for those pupils who cycled into school in an attempt to encourage more children to take to their bikes. Ray Craig from SUSTRANs was in attendance and as well as The Bike Doctor from The Hub Cycle Works (https://thehubcycleworks.co.uk/). The team carried out a ‘Doctor Bike’ service where all bikes were given a thorough safety check.

If you would like your child to cycle to school then please ask for an application letter from our school office or from Mr Stredwick.
