    Friday 1st December

Our girls table tennis team had previously qualified for the prestigious country finals tournament held at Testwood College in Totton. As usual, the standard of play between the teams was unbelievably high but our team really gave a good account of themselves. The competing teams were split into two groups with each team playing the other sides in their pool. Fair Oak began with a fixture against Springhill and won a competitive tie by five games to three. Next up were St Marys who proved too strong for the Fair Oak team and won a comprehensive victory by eight games to nil. This put Fair Oak in second position in the group and meant that they would play off for third place against the other group runners up, Horndean. In another very tight tie, Horndean just go the better of our girls, winning by a scoreline of five games to three. These results mean that Fair Oak finished in fourth place in the county which is a fantastic achievement! Well done to all of our fabulous players.

    Tuesday 5th December

Hamble College was again the venue for an indoor athletics event, this time between year three and four pupils from local schools. Just as in the upper school competition last month, athletes scored points depending on how well they did in their track and field events and these points were collated to give an overall team total. The boys and girls points were then added together to give a school total. When our competitors had finished their events and the calculating was completed, Fair Oak ended up in third place! Well done to all of our participating pupils.

    Friday 15th December

Today our upper school swimming team travelled to Wildern to take part in a swimming gala. The competition was comprised of a variety of different races including both individual and relay events with points being awarded to teams depending on where they finished in each race. Our team performed superbly and really enjoyed the event. By the end of the gala, the points totals were as follows:

    Bishop’s Waltham – 246

    Botley - 223

    Freegrounds - 163

    Fair Oak - 147

    Durley - 144

    Stoke Park – 120

    Berrywood - 117

    Upham - 91

Well done to our fantastic upper school swimming team!

  • Fair Oak Rated Gold - Again!

    Wed 06 Dec 2017

At Fair Oak Junior School we value the role played by sport and physical activity in the curriculum as we believe that it helps to generate well rounded individuals so we were delighted to hear that our school has been awarded the gold standard again by Sainsbury’s! Sainsbury’s School Games Mark rewards schools for our commitment to and development of competition, school sport and physical education. This is the highest possible standard awarded by the scheme.

In order to achieve this, Sainsbury’s reviewed our sports provision both during curriculum time and outside curriculum time for the last academic year and examined our plans for this year. The impact of our sporting initiatives were reviewed as well as the progress our pupils make in this area. The full criteria appears on

Well done to everybody involved in helping to keep our pupils active and healthy!
