    Friday 2nd October

Our girls football team played their County Finals tournament at Wide Lane today. The competition involved the winners of other regional tournaments from around Hampshire so the standard of play was extremely high. Fair Oak began with a one nil victory against Flying Bull with a neatly taken goal. Next up for our girls were Purbrook and despite total dominance from Fair Oak and fantastic goal keeping from Purbrook, the match ended without score. Isle of Wight team St Francis then beat the Fair Oak girls by two goals to nil before three goalless games in a row against Velmead, Castle and Fairisle.  Our penultimate game was against St Bede’s. Fair Oak took the lead with a well crafted goal but were caught on the break by a St Bede’s equaliser from a tight angle. The game ended one all. Our final match was against Oakley and unfortunately our girls ended the tournament with a one nil defeat, the goal coming very much against the run of play. This meant that Fair Oak finished in fourth place overall. The winners of the competition were St Francis. Well played to all of the girls who took part.

    Tuesday 6th October

Fair Oak entered three boys teams and two girls teams into a table tennis tournament held at Wildern School. The winners of both the boys and the girls competition would go through to represent the area at the County Finals at Testwood College in December. In the boys competition the teams were split into three pools with each team playing every other team in that pool. The winners of each pool then went through to a finals group, the winners of which would be crowned champions. Our B and C team battled hard throughout the competition but despite some great shot making just missed out on qualifying for the final group. Our A team however qualified easily. In the final, our boys were up against Botley A and an extremely strong St Bede’s side who went on to win the overall tournament from Fair Oak who finished in a close second place.

The girls competition was organised slightly differently. There was only one group and every team played every other team. The team finishing top of the pool would be the winners. Both of our teams played brilliantly throughout and this was reflected in the final standings. Fair Oak A won the competition with Fair Oak B in second place which means that our A team have qualified for the County Finals tournament!

Congratulations to all of our participating athletes.

    Wednesday 14th October

Our Year 3 and Year 4 cross country teams were entered into the South Eastleigh and Winchester cross country race held today at Hamble College. The standard of competition was extremely high and all of our teams performed brilliantly. Our Year 3 girls finished in third place while our Year 3 boys won their event! Our Year 4 girls team came second overall and our Year 4 boys team won their race! Well done to all of our athletes. What a lot of talent we have for our future cross country teams!

    Monday 19th October

Today our boys football team played their second round match in the Hampshire Cup at home to St Judes of Portsmouth. Our visitors started the game strongly, looked composed on the ball and technically sound. However, Fair Oak took the lead through a well worked move and a neat finish and then went from strength to strength adding two more goals in the first which meant the half time score stood at three nil to Fair Oak. The second half was tight and no more goals were scored which means that Fair Oak go through to the next round after a solid all round performance.

    Tuesday 20th October

Hamble College again hosted a South Eastleigh and Winchester cross country race, this time for Year 5 and 6 pupils. Just as for the lower school event, the standard of running was extremely high due the sheer volume of athletes participating so our Year 5 girls team did well to finish in fifth place. Our Year 5 boys ran superbly, finishing in first place! The next race was for Year 6 girls and our team ran brilliantly, ending up as runners up while our Year 6 boys team won their event! Well done to all of our athletes!

  • Fun Run Success!

    Wed 07 Oct 2015

On the afternoon of Friday 9th October, the pupils, staff and parents of Fair Oak Junior School took part in a sponsored Fun Run around the Pavilion fields next to our school. Despite the soggy conditions due to the recent bad weather everybody who took part enjoyed the event and some even preferred the fact that the course was rather wet!

As it was a sponsored run all the proceeds raised will go towards purchasing sports equipment for the school. A big thank you must go to all the pupils who are still collecting their sponsor money as well as to all of the families who came along to support the event and finally to those who are sponsoring our pupils. Please keep the sponsor money coming in!

    Fri 02 Oct 2015

The Year 3 pupils at Fair Oak Junior School have recently been taking part in scooter training sessions which had the aim of improving their scooter control, developing their on-road skills all the way through to planning and making a journey.

Well done to all of our Year 3 pupils who have worked so hard to improve their road safety skills. We very much look forward to offering this excellent course to next year’s Year 3 pupils
