Dear Fair Oak Family,
Happy Monday! We hope you had a lovely weekend and were able to enjoy the sunshine in one way or another.
Just a reminder to follow us on Twitter – we are always adding pictures and information detailing what is going on in school and we, as always, love to see your pictures of home learning. Don’t forget to look out for our Fri-yay challenge each week too!
We just wanted to remind parents of pupils who have instrumental /vocal lessons with Hampshire Music Service about the following: – it would be wonderful if more parents would sign up and give it a try with the children.
🎶 HMS Virtual Learning Zone 🎶
The HMS Virtual Learning Zone is open for the summer term. Please go to www.hants.gov.uk/hms to log a parent email address and you will be contacted directly.
By logging on to the Learning Zone, you will be able to:
*have email conversations with your child's music teacher
*get advice and information on how to help them progress with their instrumental/vocal skills.
*access an extensive resources section which includes video demos by HMS staff and lots of music, technical exercises, worksheets, ensemble activities etc.
*the opportunity to upload audio or video recordings of your son/daughter playing, for a more detailed response from their teacher.
* Teachers will respond at least once a week during term-time, and you will have open access to all the online resources. This provision is available for HMS students, so please do not share the password with students who will not be registered to communicate with an HMS teacher. To sign in please visit....
Here you will find links to the various sections contained within the Learning Zone, along with instructions on how to contact your teacher and upload recordings of your children playing.
If you experience technical issues with the website, please email e-support@hms.hants.gov.uk
Some HMS teachers will be able to offer real-time online lessons, via Google Meet. More details about this will be available soon.
We hope you enjoy the resources and opportunities to continue engaging with our teachers and we look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Jill Larner
Head of Hampshire Music Service

Dear Fair Oak Family,
Happy Wednesday. I hope that the week is going well and that you are managing to enjoy the weather. Huge thank you for your comments about our Home Learning offer. Please remember to encourage your child to post their learning on the Purple Mash blog.
Thanks also to those who have recorded videos for Miss Coxhead. Miss Coxhead will aim to reply to the emails by this Friday to inform parents on whether the videos will be included or not. If you need reminding about this, please see below.
Have a good week.

Message from Mrs Coxhead:
I hope you’re all well and managing to spend some quality family time together! We have an exciting opportunity for you to get involved in, to show our community spirit and appreciation for those around us!
We would like to create a short video of us showing our support for one another and also having a bit of fun! We aim to create a video of us ‘The Fair Oak family’ lip syncing and dancing to (We could be) – Heroes by Alesso. Here is the link of the song so you can get practising… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVEo74CwiG4 … Please get creative! Feel free to dress up, grab a hair brush and show off your great moves. Be original!
Now, you do not need to record yourself doing the whole song. We only want small snippets to ensure that as many children as possible can be on the video. We have split the song up into sections so please check which section your child’s surname is in and get recording! PLEASE ONLY DO ONE SECTION PER FAMILY EVEN IF THEY HAVE DIFFERENT SURNAMES.
Sections (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVEo74CwiG4)
Section 1) 0-37 seconds – Surnames beginning A - B
Section 2) 37 seconds – 1:09 – Surnames beginning C - E
Section 3) 1:09 – 1:25 – Surnames beginning F - H
Section 4) 1:25 – 1:53 - Surnames beginning I - M
Section 5) 1:53 – 2:25 - Surnames beginning N – R
Section 6) 2:25 – 2:55 – Surnames beginning S - T
Section 7) 2:55 – 3:31 - Surnames beginning U - Z
Please note not all section have lyrics, so please show me your best dance moves!
Once you have finished your clip, please email it to fojuniorschool@gmail.com Please ensure that the subject of the email is called the section of the song that you have recorded e.g. Section 1. This helps me with piecing it all together!
A few rules
As you can imagine this is not a small task! Please avoid contacting the office or the email address above with questions, as the aim of this video is to showcase our community spirit and to have fun. Whilst we endeavour to use all clips submitted, please note that this may not be possible if we receive too many videos. Please check your video before submitting, as we cannot use videos with technical issues.
Have Fun!
Miss Coxhead.

Dear Fair Oak Family,
Happy Monday. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I am delighted that our new learning offer has come into play today – the first ‘day’ of the summer term. It has been great to hear about what has been happening at home during the holiday. Some have decided to carry on learning, whilst others have decided to have some time off. Either way, I really do hope that you are managing to look after yourselves, as well as our children.
If you would like to access our daily English and maths learning, please go to the school website and select your child’s year group. When on the year page, scroll past the activity timetable and look for the English and Maths learning presentations – remember that these work in conjunction with our YouTube videos. All work is supplemented further by specific 2Dos on Purple Mash. Once your child has completed their learning, please share it on the Purple Mash blog. Remember that more learning is available through Purple Mash and on the Home Learning page of the website.
Please do contact the school office if you can’t access the learning materials at home as this will give us time to print of the required amount.
On Friday Mrs Downer’s son, Thomas, managed to configure our 3D printer to make PPE items. At the moment we are able to make surgical visor headbands and clips. Please do contact the office if these can help those in urgent need of PPE. (see picture)
Have a good week!

Dear Fair Oak Family,
Happy Wednesday. I hope you are all well. Thank you so much for your kind words about the online learning. As mentioned previously, things will be changing from Monday 20th April. Whilst I have made it clear that we do not expect you to follow a specific timetable, we will be suggesting learning activities.
On Friday’s newsletter, you will receive more information about our changes to learning. As always, thank you for your messages of support and ideas. The staff are working hard to create learning, be parents, complete other learning tasks required of them and stay safe. As head, I must balance the welfare of my staff team in this time and adhere to specific guidance, whilst doing what is best for the body of pupils at Fair Oak Junior School. Every child will have a different learning experience at home; as a school, we are not here to judge what you can and can’t do – rather support you and your child as best as possible given the need for me to adhere to guidance.
For those of you who are able to send your child to school next week as they are classified as Vulnerable pupils or you are classified as a Key Worker, an email will be coming out shortly with next week’s registers.
Lastly, Miss Coxhead has a plan. See below….
Have a good week.

Happy Monday Fair Oak. It seems odd to be writing to you on a Bank Holiday Monday, but I do hope that you all had a lovely Easter weekend. School is open for those who are classified as Vulnerable and/or the children of Key Workers. If your child receives Free School Meals, please remember to contact the office about collecting a weekly food package. Just a reminder to those who are already on our list – please collect your child’s food package between 11am and 11.30am on the Monday of each week.
It has been wonderful to read about your child’s learning and to see so many photographs on the blogs. Please keep this up. As mentioned by Mrs Layley in an Oak Bites last week, our learning offer will be changing from next week. From Monday 20th, you will be able to access weekly English and Maths power points from your child’s year group page. These will work in conjunction with the YouTube videos. Please also remember to join Mrs Tuxford every Wednesday and Friday for a Science investigation/challenge video. Can you complete the science task and tell her about what you discovered in the Purple Mash Science Blog… Good luck!
Have a good week.

I hope you are all doing well and making the most of this time spent together – I doubt (hope), there will ever be another time like this, so I think we must make the most of it if we can. Please take care of yourselves and our lovely children.
We will be updating the home learning on offer via our website after the Easter holidays. More information will follow, so please have a look at our regular school communications.

OAK BITES 1st April 2020
Dear Fair Oak Family,
Happy Wednesday Fair Oak Family!
Please follow us on Twitter @FairOakJS and…
…subscribe to our YouTube channel!
Firstly, I hope you and our children are well. We are missing them…and you! Thank you so much for your comments about the YouTube Videos. The staff have enjoyed making them and are really excited to see the children’s learning on the Purple Mash blogging platform.
There are going to be some new additions to the YouTube channel. Each week, in addition to English and maths, we will be sending out Science videos and Music videos, which can be accessed from the Whole school playlist and the Music with Joe Playlist. Need a bedtime story? Thanks to JK Rowling, the teachers are able to read Harry Potter to the children. If you want to hear this, log onto Purple Mash, select the yellow work tab (at the top), select the arrow by school and then access the Harry Potter file. Happy listening!
For those eligible for Free School Meals, due to the Pupil Premium Grant
As our school kitchen is working at capacity, we are able to offer food to those who are in receipt of pupil premium funding. From Monday 6th April, we are able to offer lunch boxes – these will include ingredients for food for a week. However, for the kitchen to place the correct food orders, please could you contact the school office by 1pm today (Wednesday 1st April) if you require food for next week. It would also be helpful if you could to let us know if you want these food boxes until further notice, so that you don’t need to contact us weekly.
For those in school – classified as Vulnerable and Key Worker
If you are unable to access the internet to complete home learning, the office has hard copies of home learning which you can collect.
Have a wonderful end to the week.
Mr De Silva
