    Tuesday 1st May

Fair Oak entered a team into a year three and four golf tournament today which was held at Wildern. Just as for the year five and six tournament last week, all participating teams worked their way around a series of stations which were designed to improve every element of their game from putting to driving with points being scored depending on how well the teams performed at each activity. At the end of the tournament when the team totals had been added together our team finished in a respectable fifth position with a total of 259 points. Well done to our golfers on another great overall team performance!

    Wednesday 2nd May

At the half time whistle, it was Fair Oak who led by eighteen tries to fifteen. In the second half, the home side began to take control and build up a healthier gap and at the end of the match, Fair Oak were ten tries ahead, forty-two to thirty-two. Well done to all those involved – what a fantastic team performance!

    Tuesday 8th May

Wyvern school hosted the Hamble area boys football finals today. The competition was played between all of the top two teams from each of the cluster schools in the Hamble area, so the standard of football was very high indeed. Both our A and B teams had qualified for the event and they were placed in different pools. Our A team won all three of their pool matches against Wickham, Berrywood and Stoke Park by the same scoreline, three nil. Our B team began with a two one win over Freeggrounds, then drew nil nil with Netley Abbey and one all with Swanmore. These results put both of our teams through to the semis as group winners. Both semi-finals went to extra time and golden goal with both Fair Oak teams victorious! Our A team beat Freegrounds and our B team beat Berrywood to set up an all Fair Oak affair in the final. In a very even match neither team could score after normal time and so it was agreed that both teams would share the trophy! Well done to all of our boys who played superbly throughout!

    Friday 11th May

Our girls football team travelled to Kings Worthy to play a friendly match to help prepare for our upcoming trip to Leicester. Fair Oak dominated the first half and at half time were two nil up. The second half was a more even affair and no goals were added by either side. Well done to our team for a solid all round performance.

    Monday 14th May

Fair Oak entered two teams into a lower school tennis tournament held at Woodhouse Lane tennis courts. The standard of play was very high and all of our players should be proud of the way they performed. After all of the group matches had been played, our B team finished in third place in their pool while our A team were group winners with a one hundred percent record. This meant that our B team went through to the fifth place play-off match where they faced Durley Yellow. In a close match it was Fair Oak who won by a score of twenty eight points to twenty six. For Fair Oak A, a semi-final against Upham Orange stood between them and the final! Our team played superbly to win by twenty eight points to eighteen. In the final, Botley were our opponents and despite some great shot making, it was our opponents who came out on top to win the overall tournament. Well done to both of our fantastic teams who played superbly throughout.

Springhill were our opponents today for a Year three and four tag rugby friendly match. In very hot conditions, there was some great attacking rugby played. The away side scored again early in the second period followed quickly by an Oakley response. However, after this set back, Fair Oak went on to add a further four goals to leave the final score at ten one to Fair Oak. What a great performance! Well done boys.

    Monday 21st May

Our girls cricketers played today in the North Eastleigh and Winchester competition at Hursley Cricket Club. The competing teams were split into two groups with the winners of each group playing against each other in the tournament final. Our A team started their campaign with a narrow six run defeat to Colden Common but then followed that up with three very one sided wins against St Peters, Otterbourne and Scantabout. These, together with the other group results meant that Colden Common, Otterbourne and Fair Oak all finished with nine points. Unfortunately, Colden Common just pipped Fair Oak as group winners on runs scored. Over in the other pool, Fair Oak B and Fair Oak C both ended up with a win each from their five matches and so finished fourth and fifth in the group. Well done to all of our fantastic cricketers who put in some great performances throughout the day!

Despite dominating the first half of the match, our boys drew nil nil while our girls lost narrowly by two goals to one. Next up our teams faced Burnley and again, a dominant display by our boys was only rewarded with a nil nil draw while our girls lost by two goals to one. Manchester United were our next opponents. Both of our teams performed superbly. Our boys stormed into a two goal lead before Man United scored a late consolation while our girls produced a gritty performance to beat their opponents by a goal to nil. The final round of fixtures saw our teams face Stoke City. Our boys lost two nil while our girls drew nil nil despite dominating the game. These results meant that our boys finished in fourth position in their group with five points while our girls finished third in their group with four points. Despite not qualifying for the semi-final, both of our teams should not feel disappointed in themselves. They represented Fair Oak brilliantly in a highly competitive National Final – the whole of the Fair Oak family is so proud of all of those who took part. Well done!

    Thursday 24th May

Today, two Fair Oak athletics teams took part in a very competitive ‘Quad Kids’ tournament held at Wyvern School. All athletes had to compete in four different events. These were a 75m sprint, a 600m run, a howler throw and a standing long jump. Each competitor was given a set number of points for their team depending on how well they performed in each discipline. At the end of the competition after all scores had been collated, Fair Oak A finished in third place overall and have qualified for the prestigious Hampshire Games in June! Fair Oak B finished in fifteenth place. Each of our athletes should feel very proud of themselves as there were some outstanding individual performances in all four events.

    Friday 25th May

The boys cricket team played their first match in the Hampshire Cup for this year at home to St Peters. The away side won the toss and decided to bat first. From the first ball, St Peters struggled to deal with the accuracy of the Fair Oak bowling and wickets fell with regularity. At the end of the innings, St Peters were left on 178 for 10. In response, Fair Oak played positively and with freedom to amass an impressive 324 for the loss of 5 wickets. Well done to the team for a very good performance.

    Tuesday 17th April

Our netball team took part in a qualifying tournament today for the Hampshire Games in June. They had already had to qualify for this stage by finishing in the top two of a previous competition earlier in the year to make it this far as had all of the other competing teams. The standard of play was therefore very high indeed. The teams were spilt into pools with the top two from each group making it through to the semi-final. Fair Oak began with a three on loss to Wellstead. Despite the scoreline, our team put in a very good display. This was followed up with a five nil loss to Freegrounds and then another loss, this time two nil against Droxford. These results meant that Fair Oak finished bottom of the group and would play off for seventh place overall against Netley Abbey. In a close game it was Netley Abbey who just shaded it, winning by a single goal to nil. This meant that Fair Oak finished in eighth place. Well done to all of our fabulous netballers who battled hard against tough opposition throughout the event!

South View Junior were then beaten three nil before two nil win over Hatch Warren. Our final group game resulted in another victory, this time three one against Ashford Hill Primary. These results meant that Fair Oak won their group and therefore went through to the quarter finals to face Great Binfields. In a very tight match, it was unfortunately our opponents who came out on top by two tries to one. Despite this loss, our team should be proud of themselves for such a great performance throughout the day. Well done to all those who participated!
