    Tuesday 3rd May

Three lower school tennis teams were entered a racket festival held today at Kings’ School in Winchester. Colden Common, St Faiths, Compton and John Keble also attended the event which gave all of the pupils an opportunity to improve their skills in tennis, badminton, squash as well as table tennis in competitive and non-competitive games. All of our teams played superbly and enjoyed the afternoon!

    Friday 6th May

Durley brought their girls football team to Fair Oak to play our girls in a friendly game. The match started fairly evenly and it took a while for the first goal to come and when it did it went to the home side! Fair Oak added another before half time and kept the pressure up in the second half scoring a further two to leave the final score four nil to Fair Oak. Well done for a great performance girls!

    Friday 13th May

Fair Oak entered three teams into a lower school tennis tournament held at Hamble Sports College. The standard of play was very high and all of our players should be proud of the way they performed. Our C team finished with 193 points which put them in sixth place. Our B team ended up in third place with 228 points and our A team finished in second place with three hundred points. Well done to all those involved!

    Tuesday 17th May

The Fair Oak boys cricket team began their season with a county finals qualifying tournament held at Hursley Park today. There were sixteen schools competing but only the winners would make it through to finals day on July 7th at St Cross. Fair Oak started off with a narrow six run defeat to Otterbourne but won their next two games convincingly, the first by one hundred and forty eight runs against St Francis and the final group game by seventy seven runs against Upham. This meant that Fair Oak finished second in their group behind Otterbourne but still qualified for the quarter finals where they would play Knightwood who had won their group. In a tight game, it was our boys who were victorious by five runs! In the semi-final Shamblehurst were the opponents. This time, Fair Oak won more comfortably, easing home by fifteen runs to set up a final with Otterbourne who came through their semi-final against Berrywood. Our boys were superb from the off and restricted Otterbourne to just 214 in their innings which was a great effort from Fair Oak. Our team batted sensibly throughout their innings and won in the end by a comfortable twenty runs, finishing on 234. Well done to our boys who have now qualified for the county finals!

    Wednesday 18th May

Our girls football team travelled to Petersfield to play in a tournament hosted by Herne Junior School today. The competition included the twelve best teams in the county. The teams were split into two pools of six with each team playing everyone in their pool and the top two progressing through to the semi finals. Fair Oak began with a fixture against Anton and unfortunately lost one nil, conceding a rather sloppy goal from a set piece. Next up were a strong Hook with Warsash team who beat our girls three nil. The pressure was really on Fair Oak in the next game against Herne B and the team produced a solid performance to win by three goals to nil! Things then got even better against Moorlands who were thrashed by Fair Oak six nil! Arguably the best display came in our last group match against a strong Castle side where our girls were again victorious, this time two nil. These results meant that Fair Oak finished as runners up in the group and would play the other group winners, Herne A in the semi final. Despite a battling performance from our girls, it was the hosts who won a one sided game, five one. The team should be proud of their performance today. They did really well getting out of a tough group and showed that they can compete well against the best sides in Hampshire!

    Friday 20th May

Our year five boys cricket team played in a county finals qualifying tournament today held at Lapstone Park. Fair Oak began their campaign with thirty three run victory over Berrywood before beating Shamblehurst even more convincingly, this time by a margin of sixty eight runs! In the final match of the competition, Fair Oak played a very strong Droxford side. Our boys saved their best performance for this last fixture. Droxford won the toss and elected to bowl. Fair Oak batted sensibly throughout their innings and posted a competitive 236 for 2. They then bowled superbly to restrict Droxford to just 219 for 5, taking some quite superb catches along the way! Well done to the team who have now qualified for the county finals event later in the term.

    Monday 23rd May

Our boys cricket team played their first match today in the Hampshire Cup at home to Brockenhurst. Fair Oak won the toss and put the away side in to bat. The Fair Oak bowling was tight and fielding excellent and as a result, Brockenhurst were only able to score 194 for 11. In response, Fair Oak looked untroubled and finished with a score of 242 for 3. Well done to the team for a great start to their Cup campaign!

    Tuesday 24th May

The Fair Oak girls cricket team played their county finals qualifying tournament today at Hursley Park. The competing teams were split into two pools with each team playing everyone else in their group. Fair Oak began with a close four run win against Owslebury and followed that up with another narrow victory, this time by two runs against a very strong Droxford team. This put our girls in a good position but only a win in the final group match against Colden Common would assure the team of winning their group. Fair Oak produced a really solid display to win this fixture by thirty runs! This meant that Fair Oak won the pool and would play Weeke in the semi final. Our girls seemed to be improving with each game and they won again, this time by a margin of twenty three to set up a final against Droxford who beat Berrywood in the other semi. In the final, Fair Oak fielded first and restricted the opposition to just 238 for 1 with a very disciplined bowling display. They then batted sensibly without losing a wicket to finish with 250, a winning margin of twelve runs. Well done to the girls who have qualified for the county finals!

    Wednesday 25th May

Fair Oak hosted a gymnastics competition today involving other local schools. The gymnasts all had to perform two floor routines and two vaults. The standard of gymnastics on display was superb. Fair Oak finished in third place overall with a combined score of 99.5. Berrywood, who were the overall winners were only just ahead with 104.1 points so our team can be proud of their performance. Well done girls!

    Thursday 26th May

Today, our athletics team took part in a very competitive ‘Quad Kids’ tournament held at Wyvern School. All athletes had to compete in four different events. These were a 75m sprint, a 600m run, a howler throw and a standing long jump. Each competitor was given a set number of points for their team depending on how well they performed in each discipline. At the end of the competition after all scores had been collated, Fair Oak finished in fourth place overall. Each of our athletes should feel very proud of themselves as there were some outstanding individual performances in all four events.
