This week all of our pupils have participated in House basketball and tag rugby matches. Below are the year group results:

Tuesday 7^th June

Two teams were entered into a boys cricket tournament held at Lapstone Park today between schools from the South Eastleigh and Winchester partnership. The competing teams were split into two leagues. Fair Oak B found themselves in League A and began their campaign with a loss to Shamblehurst. That was followed by a second defeat to Droxford before a final group fixture with Upham which ended in an entertaining draw! In League B, Fair Oak A started with a comfortable win against Durley and followed that up with a second victory, this time against Freegrounds. This set up a final encounter with Berrywood who had also won both of their matches. Unfortunately for our boys, it was Berrywood who came out on top by just four runs. These results meant that Fair Oak B finished in fourth place in their group and would play in the Plate competition while Fair Oak A were group runners up and would play in the Cup event. Fair Oak B lost their first match in the new competition to Freegrounds but ended the event on a high with a good win against Durley to finish in seventh place overall. Fair Oak A lost in a close encounter to Droxford but then won their third/fourth place playoff match with Upham to finish the tournament in third place. Well done to both of our teams who played the game in great spirit throughout!

Monday 13^th June

Fair Oak played their cricket County Cup quarter final match at home to St Bedes today. The visitors won the toss, decided to bat first and then posted a competitive 289 for 4. In response Fair Oak struggled due to some superbly accurate bowling and lost wickets at a fairly regular interval to finish on 155 for 15. Despite this result, our team should feel proud of their efforts today against one of the favourites for the competition this year.

Tuesday 14^th June

It was the turn of our girls to play their area cricket tournament today. The format was the same as the boys event with teams being spilt into groups. Fair Oak 1 began with a comfortable win over Berrywood before losing a close match to Upham by just two runs. Fair Oak 2 lost to Droxford and then to Durley while Fair Oak 3 began with a loss to Freegrounds but then beat Shamblehurst. These results put both Fair Oak 1 and Fair Oak 3 through to the top ‘Cup’ group in the second stage of the competition on runs scored! Fair Oak 2 were in the third or ‘Bowl’ group for this second phase of the event. Fair Oak 2 began with a loss to Upham and then ended their tournament with a loss to Shamblehurst to finish in ninth place overall. In the Cup group, Fair Oak 3 began with a win over Droxford. Fair Oak 1 then lost to Droxford and in the final group game, Fair Oak 1 beat Fair Oak 3. This meant that all teams had one win each. The winning team was decided by adding the runs each team had scored in their matches. Fair Oak 3 finished third in the group and therefore third overall but Fair Oak 1 finished first and because of this, they will now play in the County Finals at the Ageas Bowl later in the month! Well done to all of our girls who played superbly throughout the event.

Tuesday 21^st June

Fair Oak entered two teams into an emerging football tournament hosted by Swanmore College today. For many of our boys it was the first time they had played in a football competition but they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately neither of our teams ended up with a win but Mr Stredwick was extremely proud of all of the players who never gave up and always played with a positive and supportive attitude to both their team mates and the opposition players. A brilliant experience was had by all! Well done boys.

Thursday 23^rd June

The Hampshire School Games Festival took place today at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park and Fair Oak took two teams along to participate in a number of fun events including roundnet, skateboarding, tennis, orienteering, athletics and many more! There was certainly a festival feel to the day with over one thousand children attending from schools across the county. Our pupils had a fantastic day and they certainly represented our school beautifully showing teamwork, enthusiasm and resilience in abundance, particularly in the skate park where our pupils had one or two falls (Mr Stredwick included) but they all picked themselves up, dusted themselves down and went again! Well done to all of our participating children – we are all really proud of you.

Monday 27^th June

Fair Oak entered five teams into a rounders tournament held today on our school field. The competition took a league format where every team played every other team. The side with the most points at the end would be crowned winners. After all the fixtures had been played, the final standings were as follows:

Tuesday 28^th June

Today our girls cricket team played their County Finals Tournament at The Ageas Bowl. The team had previously qualified by winning a competition at The Lapstone Park playing fields. The competing sides were split into groups with every one playing every other school in their pool and the most successful teams then qualifying for the top group in the next stage of the tournament. Fair Oak began with a narrow two run win against St Patrick’s Primary and then followed that up with a comprehensive forty seven run win over Wimborne Juniors. This meant that our girls won their group and would therefore be in the top pool in the next stage of the event. Fair Oak began against an extremely strong Milford on Sea team and it was our opponents who came out comfortably on top with an exceptional display of both batting and bowling. Next up for our girls were Western and this game was much closer but again unfortunately for our girls, our opponents proved a little too strong and edged out our girls in an entertaining game. Our team should be proud of their efforts today in reaching the top pool and finishing third overall in the County Finals! Well done to all those involved.

Recently the pupils at Fair Oak Junior School took part in our annual Potted Sports event. The standard of competition was remarkably high with new records being set in many disciplines. Well done to all those who participated and a big thank you must go to all parents for their continued support of this event. Here are the final results:
