Well done to all of our players who performed superbly throughout the event.

    Tuesday 14th November

On Tuesday 14th November, our Year 5 and 6 boys football team played in the first round of the Hampshire Plate against Cherbourg Primary School. Having narrowly lost in the first round of the cup, the boys were determined to get a more positive result. They started the game brightly and moved the ball around well. There were several half chances in the first few minutes. In the 8th minute, Odhran did well to beat his man and make some space to cross the ball to Jake. Jake was able to turn the defender and fired into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to Fair Oak. Five minutes after that, the same combination provided the second goal. George played a through ball to Odhran. Odhran again crossing for Jake to neatly turn the ball in. Harry and Radley were alert at the back and prevented Cherbourg from too many attempts on goal. However, just before half time they were able to pull one goal back as Fair Oak stopped, thinking the ball had gone out of play only for Cherbourg to finish well in the one on one versus Evan.

Cherbourg started the second half very well and were motivated by their late goal in the first half. They hit the bar and had a few half chances before their midfielder managed to find the top corner, after a corner was half cleared with, with a fantastic strike. For the second match in a row the boys found themselves at 2 -2 having lost a lead! It was pleasing to see the way they reacted though as they rallied together and had multiple chances. Leo showed some fantastic dribbling before placing the ball just wide and Frank also had a long range effort whistle past the post. For large periods, Cherbourg were defending their goal line as Rueben caused them problems down the right but we were unable to find the decisive goal.

The game finished at 2-2 and, with the light quickly fading the game went into extra time. The boys played at furious pace and, early on, Odhran took a long range shot which deflected past the keeper to make it 3-2. The boys continued to attack and never looked like conceding but the game finished at 3-2 to Fair Oak. The boys now progress to the next round against Bartley and will look to build on their performance from this game.

    Tuesday 21st November

The girls football team travelled to Vigo Primary School in Andover to compete in the Hampshire Plate competition. In a thrilling match, the girls came away with a 3-2 victory! It was a physical, competitive encounter played in great spirit where both sets of players were congratulated by spectators and coaches for the excellent skill and work rate on display.

Well done girls! Onto the third round!

    Tuesday 28th November

The lower school boys football team finally took part in their first football tournament of the year after a couple of postponements. The boys played some great football and that showed by winning three out of the four fixtures that were played. The team won 6-0, 4-0, 1-0 and narrowly lost 1-0 despite a dominant performance. A big thank you to the parents that came along to support the team.

    Monday 2nd October

Today our girls football team played their first round match in the Hampshire Cup at home to a very strong Hook with Warsash side. The match started well for Fair Oak who defended with composure and looked lively on the break. However, mid-way through the half, the visitors took the lead with a well taken goal from an accurate pull back from the by-line. Unfortunately our girls fell further behind with a goal similar to the first and at half time the score stood at two nil to Hook with Warsash. No further goals were added in the second half. Despite the result, Fair Oak should feel proud of the way they performed throughout the match today. Well done!

    Wednesday 4th October

Our Year 5 and 6 boys’ football team recently played in the first round of the Hampshire Cup against Sarisbury Junior School at home. It was a closely fought match that was played in two 25 minute halves. The start was a bit scrappy as both teams tried to find their rhythm. Sarisbury started well and created a few good chances but it was Fair Oak who took the lead. The ball was bouncing around the Sarisbury area and fell to Leo who was able to finish from close range. Sarisbury reacted well to going a goal down and scored an instant equaliser with some good play on the wing setting up their striker. The rest of the first half was evenly matched but Fair Oak came out strongly in the second. They started to dominate and were linking up well across the pitch. The excellent passing led to some good opportunities but Fair Oak were unable to take the lead. Eventually, Jake was played in by Odhran and finished well with a powerful drive into the corner. With Fair Oak looking to seal the result, Sarisbury again showed great resilience and were rewarded with an even quicker equaliser. This goal boosted their confidence and for the last 5 minutes, they went in search of the winner. Unfortunately with a minute to play they scored the decisive third goal and won the match. The boys were disappointed with the result but they showed there is a lot to build on with their performance and will now enter the Hampshire Plate; giving them another chance of success which they will be determined to take.

Well done to all of our fantastic footballers. There really were some outstanding performances today!

    Tuesday 31st October

Our girls football team travelled to Swanmore College to compete against schools from the local area. You could tell it was Halloween night because there were plenty of tricks and treats on display! The girls played some excellent football in horrendously wet and cold conditions to win the tournament, conceding just one goal the whole afternoon!

The girls played in a number of positions and gave their all to any role asked of them. We had a rotation of three different goalkeepers, brave and robust defenders, midfielders who worked tirelessly to use the width of a very large pitch and strikers who took their chances brilliantly. A few moments to note were some incredible reflex saves from Rayah in goal, an amazing long-range free kick from Megan and a composed finish from a tight angle by Mia.

But what was most pleasing was the team play; all girls passed the ball intently and constantly put their opponents under pressure by pressing together with intensity.

The team will now go through to the next round to be held at Stoneham Lane Football Complex in March. Well done girls!
