    Thursday 13th January

Today Fair Oak entered two basketball teams into a qualifying tournament at Wildern for the County Finals which will be held later in the year. Only the winning side from the event would qualify. Teams were split into two groups with each team playing every other team in their pool. The top teams would make it through to the final with the runners up playing off for third place. Fair Oak A began with a closely fought four three loss to Netley Abbey but followed that up with two wins against Freegrounds B and Upham. These results meant that our A team finished as runners up in their group. Fair Oak B drew their opening fixture one all with Freegrounds A and then beat Berrywood and Durley which meant that they topped their group and went through to the final. In the third/fourth place play-off, Fair Oak A beat Berrywood three two to finish third overall. In the final Fair Oak B played Netley Abbey. Fair Oak started well and took an early lead but unfortunately Netley Abbey fought back to level the score and then won the game late on with a second basket. Both of our sides should be really proud of their performances today. Well done to all of those who participated.

    Tuesday 18th January

Fair Oak took two development teams to play in a basketball tournament held today at Wildern school. The majority of our two teams had not played a competitive basketball fixture before but they all performed superbly. After all of the fixtures had been completed, Fair Oak A finished 5th in their pool and Fair Oak B finished 3rd in their group. Both of our teams should be proud of their performances which showed a lot of promise for the future!

    News for Year 5

    Stubbington

The Stubbington residential is booked and the amazing activities are planned over the two and a half days the children will be staying on site. Lots of children are already on countdown and there is a lovely buzz when they talk about the trip. We have a fantastic seashore experience to look forward to, gnome caching, shelter building and stealth like fox thinking as well as an Earthquake adventure to look forward to. The hide will be visited and we will cross everything we see the badgers.  We have had lots of phone call and emails recently to ask if Stubbington is going ahead this year. We hope so. I would send an email immediately and tell the children if the site had cancelled our booking. I, along with the children, am crossing everything that things stay as they are and we are able to experience the excitement, friendships and lasting memories which are made during these incredible adventures. Unfortunately, Stubbington are unable to organise an Open Day before we visit but I will be contacting them to see if they could provide a video to share with our children or if they will allow me to visit and make my own to share with the children.

I will send details about the drop off and collection arrangements on the days with you soon (previous years, this has happened in the middle of January) and I will meet with the year groups and/ or individual classes to talk to the children in the run up to our stay. I will inform you immediately if the visit is cancelled and I am sorry that I cannot give you a definitive answer but I can tell you that children are currently visiting the site and having an amazing time.

If there have been any medical changes or any other changes I need to know, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you.

    Tina Tuxford.

    Dear Fair Oak Family,

We have been so proud of the children today and they way they have responded to the news of Alfie’s passing. The children have all behaved in a kind considerate and caring way and are all looking out for each other alongside the staff. The true meaning of the ‘Fair Oak Family’ is coming in to its own during this period and you as parents/guardians should also feel proud of the wonderful young people in your care. Thank you.
