    Tuesday 3rd July

Today two teams were entered into a lower school cricket tournament held at the Lapstone playing fields. The tournament was a league format with each team playing every other team. The side with the most points at the end of the event would be crowned the overall winners. Fair Oak B began the competition with a narrow defeat to Berrywood but then went on to beat Upham by a comfortable twenty two runs. Their next fixture saw them face Botley who put in a solid display to beat Fair Oak. Fair Oak A began with a comfortable win against Berrywood and then followed that up with a comprehensive victory against Upham. They then lost their next fixture by just thirteen runs to Botley. The final round of fixtures saw our two teams play each other. Fair Oak A batted first and scored an impressive 273 for 1. In response, Fair Oak B batted sensibly but could not score heavily enough against some accurate Fair Oak A bowling. Their final total was 235 for 1. These results meant that Fair Oak A finished in second place overall while Fair Oak B finished in third position. Well done to both of our teams for a great performance!

    Friday 6th July

Our boys cricket team played the next round of the Hampshire Cup today at home to Bentley. The visitors won the toss and decided to bowl first. Fair Oak played their shots and ended with a competitive total of 264 for 3. Bentley were put under continuous pressure from some accurate Fair Oak bowling and ended on 217 for 9. Well done Fair Oak on a great performance!

    Friday 13th July

The Fair Oak development athletics team travelled to Berrywood school to participate in a competition amongst local schools. The athletes had to perform a number of events including the javelin, the shot put, an 80m sprint, a 200m sprint, a long jump and a standing triple jump. Points were awarded to teams depending on where their athletes came in each of these events. The competition finished with a number of relays. After the last race had been run and the points were added up, Fair Oak finished in eighth place with one hundred and twenty nine points. Well done to all of our outstanding athletes.

The Year 5 County Cricket Finals took place today at West Hill Park School in Titchfield. Both our A and B teams were participating. The competing teams were split into groups with each team playing every other team in their pool. The winners of the pools would go through to the semi-finals along with the best runner up. Fair Oak B began with a comfortable eighteen run win over Bassett green but then lost by just four runs to Whiteley. In their final group game, our B team put in a great display against Abbotswood but lost another close match, this time by just eight runs. Ou A team began their campaign with a narrow six run defeat to Marchwood and then beat Park Gate by twenty nine runs. Unfortunately, these results meant that neither of our teams qualified for the semi final although our A team missed out on the best second place spot but just 0.67 runs after the runs scored averages had been calculated! Well done to all of our participating cricketers who should feel proud of the way they represented our school today.

    Monday 16th July

Our cricket team played their Hampshire Cup quarter final away to Droxford today. Fair Oak won the toss and elected to bat first. After a positive start, Fair Oak lost momentum and wickets fell, leaving the final total at 205 for 9. Droxford batted sensibly and finished with a total of 253 for 3 to knock Fair Oak out of the competition for this year. However, a big well done must go to all of our County Cup squad for reaching the latter stages of this extremely competitive tournament!

  • Fair Oak PE Rated Platinum!

    Wed 11 Jul 2018
We are delighted to announce that we, Fair Oak Junior School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

With a total of 348 young people competing in local inter-school
competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of
participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that
the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to all parents for your continuing support of school sport!

We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
